nearbeer (1833), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Dec 20, 2008 Updated: Dec 27, 200816 oz can, thanks again General Gao. Hazy copper with a lasting quarter inch of foam. Aroma is delicious blend of earthy caramel, tea leaf and orange-chocolate. Front flavor is similar with a finish of dirty grapefruit, nut shells and resiny oak. Nice frosting of lace is left behind. The medium-heavy body is smoothly carbonated, hop-tingly and dry. Definitely one of my top two IPAs. CanIHave4Beers (833), Des Moines, Iowa, USA Dec 17, 2008 I am just going to need pick up a case of this next time I am in Minneapolis. This pours a beautiful red hue with a good frothy white head. You can smell the pine and floral scents from across the room. The flavor is intensly bitter, and the citrus is toned down, which is greatly appricated. There is no doubt a nice bitter fruity balance happening that makes this a damn pleasure to drink. GodOfThunder (855), Orlando, Florida, USA Dec 15, 2008 Special thanks to Beerlando for giving me this can. Wow, this is really a fantastic IPA. Pours a dark amber with an intense pine, vanilla and grapefruit nose. The white head sticks to the glass all the way down. The flavor remains true to the style and it has a substantial mouthfeel. Bitter grapefruit flavor with an incredible smoothness and drinkability. This is almost up there with Pliny the Elder for being one of my favorite IPAs. This is delicious. LearninBeer (194), Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA Dec 15, 2008 Poured a big head, mostly diminishing, excellent lacing with a light brown color. The aroma is hops, pine, citrus-grapefruit/lime. The body is cloudy a golden copper color. The initial flavor is Hops, bitter, creamy very good. The body is medium and the texture creamy. LilBeerDoctor (1480), East Setauket, New York, USA Dec 12, 2008 Can thanks to mreusch. Pours a slightly cloudy dark amber with a small white head. Aroma of grassy hops and grapefruit. Flavor of citrus, sour grapefruit, lemons, iced tea, grassy hops. An alright IPA but somewhat one dimensional. Doesnt make the great IPA cut for me.
Haslinger (640), Syracuse, New York, USA Dec 7, 2008 can. good hoppy aroma nice dark reddish pour. Good hops taste a bit bitter but very tasty I like this one and woudl buy again fredandboboflo (1395), East Setauket, New York, USA Dec 4, 2008 Updated: Jul 11, 2009Can. Aroma grassy, citrusy, grapefruity, with ample sweet malt behind. Flavor the same, lots of both the sweet malt and the grassy hop character with citrus in there as well, very dry-feeling hops, not very oily/resiny. Very good, though the combined components of heavy grass and big, sweet malt were somehow just a bit off for me. 7-4-7-4-14/3.6
Rerate from tap at ACBF. Aroma of grass, grapefruit, mango, awesomeness. Flavor continues on the tropical path with high bitterness and fluffy, sweet malt. Very good. mcox90 (617), Wilton, USA Dec 1, 2008 Pint can courtesy of theisti. Pours a gorgeous hazy red/orange color with a small receding white head. Huge citrus hop nose. Intense grapefruit flavor up front balanced with a nice malt middle. Then finishes with more bitter hop bite. Very good. Wish it were available in New England.
