Commercial Description:
Like Hops? You'll like this fire-hued beer. This is the beer I have always dreamed of making. This is the beer that would come to mind while spending the last two years tearing down walls, hanging sheetrock, moving kegs, power washing the ceilings, arguing with various agencies, and cutting the water main. Without Golden Promise malt, made by family-owned Simpsons Malt, Furious would just be pissed offed. From Scotland, this malt is still produced in the tradition of turning over the barley by hand, resulting in a malt that is unsurpassed in its quality. Golden Promise is also used extensively by premium whisky distilleries such as The Macallan. This malt provides the backbone for the intense hop character. Four American hop varieties are used at a rate of over three pounds per barrel. The result is a rich malt sweetness infused with bright hop flavor and aroma from beginning to end. Oh yeah, it's about 6% alcohol and around 100 IBUs.

Guest brew on tap at Flossmoor Station. Darker golden brown than any IPA I’ve ever seen with an awesome foamy head that left behind lovely lacing. Powerful aroma of floral hops with pleasant citrus notes. Taste was much more malty and sweet than expected, but perfectly balanced by the long, bitter hop finish. Exemplary IPA!

Pours a dark orange. Over powering nose of grapefruit hops. The comes across the palate like is smells with a lot of carbonation. It has an overpowering tart finish. That just makes you beg for more.

This draft brew from Durty Nellie’s in Palatine, IL poured a small sized head of foamy finely sized cream colored long lasting bubbles that left behind a transparent uncarbonated dark orange colored body and a good lacing. The aroma was strongly hopped and the mouth feel was tingly from start to finish. The Flavor contained notes of deep floral hops reflected by the aroma. Well done.

On tap at Jerry’s. Hazy caramel with big, foamy tan head / Nose of fresh hops and caramel / Light body with pronounced hops over decent malts, and good, sharp finish / Flavors of fresh cut pine, peaches, resin, and caramel / Excellent in a lighter style.

Guest tap pint at Flossmoor Station. Hazy brown with light at the edges. Spongy head already gives the impression of a hearty beer. Big, but not quite overwhelming hop smell, circled by wreaths of malt. Tasting, of course, starts with big citrus hops that tear at my uvula like an orange peel studded with pips. As the glass warms, it gains a little earthiness and even some Italian spice. An almost syrupy malt texture with caramel on top, but those darned hops stay front and center all the way down.

As much as I love hops, there is always something lacking when I pop open a Furious. Not nearly as piney-smooth as the IPAs I prefer. 100 IBU while being 6% seems like there isn’t enough sweetness to offset the bitterness. Good but not great for me.

Kindly of Gunhaver. Magic in a can, amber pour , thin white head with a strong presence of hops. Beautifully balanced with the malt. A little fruity with some citrus.
