dpjuart (670), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA May 9, 2008 16 oz. can courtesy thebeardedbrewer shared with Exec. Board. Pours amber red with off-white head. nose of grapefruit and grass, some sweet resiny notes. Taste is huge hop flavor, grapefruit, resin, pine and grass. Decent caramel malt backbone. Great IPA. Good Balance. Nate (2533), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA May 9, 2008 From can, courtesy of dpjuart. Holy cat pee and grapefruit! Apricot, grass. Vibrant, with ozone. Mild amber clear with off-white to tan lacing head. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Bitter beer with tons of hops. Light sweet malt, but mostly lots of bitter. A bit harsh in the finish, but not too bad. santos999 (318), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA May 9, 2008 Clear amber with a thin beige head. Smells deliciously hoppy with fruity, floral and herbal notes. Grassy, clean, smooth taste. Flowery and grapefruit notes. A tasty hoppy beer. Bandit (5), Blue Earth, Minnesota, USA does not count May 5, 2008 Tastes like your sucking on a tea bag. I think I overdosed on hops. Not subtle at all. Silphium (2114), Haslett, Michigan, USA May 5, 2008 On tap at the Dock Cafe in Stillwater, MN. Another beer rating succumbed to the usually helpful text message cleanup on my cell phone. This was a strong IPA, with the hops kick of a Double IPA but apparently not the alcohol content. Big, fresh, rindy, grapefruity hops blasted through the creamy, soft, bready, somewhat sweet malt backbone. Lingering bitter finish. gunhaver (1024), Tampa, Florida, USA May 4, 2008 Can, courtesy Guerde. Perfect pour: dark brownish red, big carbonated sparkling white head, and tons of dry, cotton-like lacing on the glass. Aroma is malty, but coated with citrus. Semi-sweet chocolate notes, too. Pine is masked by an overall balance. Hops hit the tongue first, and the malty body takes over soon after. A harmony of pine, citrus, mango, caramel, and vanilla. Medium-bodied. Sticky and refreshing. Easy to drink and extremely balanced. TPaliga (212), Munster, Indiana, USA May 2, 2008 Wow. Nicely done. Big hop flavor with perfect malty back. Really well balanced. Really bitter hoppy finish. I wish I could get this all the time. GAManiac (1123), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Apr 29, 2008 Pours a bright hazy amber color with a big, thick two-finger head that hangs around for quite a while. Lacing is excellent. Smell is dominated by big floral and citrus hops dominated by grapefruit and lemon zest. Balanced out with a nice underlying malty sweetness. As in the smell, huge citrus hops up front balanced out by a bready malt flavor. Sweet caramel taste gives way to a piney hop bitterness in the aftertaste. Creamy mouthfeel coats the mouth in hoppy goodness but still stings the tongue with bitterness. Medium body with solid carbonation. This is one of the better IPAs I’ve tasted and would make this a staple in my fridge if I had access to it. Big and hoppy but with a nice malty balance, this one is quite nice.
