Commercial Description:
Like Hops? You'll like this fire-hued beer. This is the beer I have always dreamed of making. This is the beer that would come to mind while spending the last two years tearing down walls, hanging sheetrock, moving kegs, power washing the ceilings, arguing with various agencies, and cutting the water main. Without Golden Promise malt, made by family-owned Simpsons Malt, Furious would just be pissed offed. From Scotland, this malt is still produced in the tradition of turning over the barley by hand, resulting in a malt that is unsurpassed in its quality. Golden Promise is also used extensively by premium whisky distilleries such as The Macallan. This malt provides the backbone for the intense hop character. Four American hop varieties are used at a rate of over three pounds per barrel. The result is a rich malt sweetness infused with bright hop flavor and aroma from beginning to end. Oh yeah, it's about 6% alcohol and around 100 IBUs.

Awesome beer, thanks oakes! Pours reddish with really solid fluffy head. Intense hoppy nose has hints of raspberry and other berries. Perfectly smooth, balanced character with woody finish. Scrumptious flavors bordering on perfection. Nice slippery mouthfeel. Absolutely lovely IPA!

Cask version at the 2008 Night of the Living Ales at Goose Island - Wrigleyville. Going by the moniker Tea-bagged Furious this was an impressive beer for my first Surly offering. Very hoppy, fully floral resinous and very fresh aroma and flavor. Creamy but not oily a very nice brew. Draught 04/02/2009. Reddish amber with a moderate creamy off-white head. Full creamy lacing down the side of the glass. Sweet floral and piney hops, very nice. Flavor is quite piney, particularly in the finish, sweet upfront. Full hoppy but with enough malt to provide a full body. Nice bitter lingering aftertaste. 7 4 8 4 Amazingly the exact same numerical rating both on my first try cask and the draught version. A really good IPA.

Very transparrent caramel orange color with one finger of tannish white head. Slight citrus grapefruit aroma, some slight fruity must. Flavor is nice bitter citrus grapefruit combo.. Good resinous finish dries the tongue quite a bit. Nice carbonation with somewhat oilly mouthfeel. Very nice IPA, very bitter indeed!

Medium golden unfiltered pour. Nice citrus and floral aroma. Very bitter taste but didn’t have the bitter bite. Very nice and crisp IPA. Would buy again.

Can: Amber/copper in color with a soapy off-white head. The nose shows lots of citric (especially grapefruit) hops with just a touch of balancing sweet toffee/caramel toward the back. In the mouth it is well-balanced and shows tons of dry and bitter piney/herbal hops vs. the mainly citric hops the nose showed. This one gets bonus points for packing in so many hops at a "lower" alcohol.

Can from Eben. Thanks dude. This might just be one of my favorites... Amber color with great head, amazing lacing. Aroma is freaking amazing grapefruit and pine straight to the face. I almost can’t get over the aroma... Maybe I am fiending for more? Super bitter grapefruit and pine. Amazingly fruity too. A touch of toast. Creamy smooth mouth feel with a lingering resin coating in the mouth. One of the best IPA’s I have ever had! Check that; to me this might just be the best IPA I have ever enjoyed.
