Commercial Description:
Like Hops? You'll like this fire-hued beer. This is the beer I have always dreamed of making. This is the beer that would come to mind while spending the last two years tearing down walls, hanging sheetrock, moving kegs, power washing the ceilings, arguing with various agencies, and cutting the water main. Without Golden Promise malt, made by family-owned Simpsons Malt, Furious would just be pissed offed. From Scotland, this malt is still produced in the tradition of turning over the barley by hand, resulting in a malt that is unsurpassed in its quality. Golden Promise is also used extensively by premium whisky distilleries such as The Macallan. This malt provides the backbone for the intense hop character. Four American hop varieties are used at a rate of over three pounds per barrel. The result is a rich malt sweetness infused with bright hop flavor and aroma from beginning to end. Oh yeah, it's about 6% alcohol and around 100 IBUs.

Canned. Amber colour, small beige head. Aroma is big fruity and flowery hops along with slight vanilla. Flavour is very much the same along with some grassy hints. Quite typical IPA.

12 oz can via skyview (thanks!). Pours a clear copper with a large beige head that leaves a LOT of spidery webbing as it slooowly recedes. Nose is very floral hoppy and piney. Taste starts very sweet caramel , then some orange, some fruity esters, and a pine wallop of a finish. Finish is bittersweet, but aftertaste is just dry mouthpuckering hoppiness as the sweetness is left to a distant memory. Body is perfect with a nice malt backbone that lets the hops take centerstage, carbonation just right. World class IPA!

Pours a dark copper color with a cream colored head. Aroma was very citrusy with some orange, lemon, grapefruit and pineapple present. The flavor was initially malty with a lot of caramel, which gave way to some citrus and then a lingering bitter hop bite finish. Good stuff.

[Can] Pours amber with a good sized cream head. Leaves nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is strongly of citrus hops--pretty good. Taste is strongly of bitter grapefruit--definitely loaded with hops. FInish is quite long. Good mouthfeel. IPAs aren’t my favorite style, but this was well done and something I will drink again.

GTMW 2007. This was a cask conditioned, tea bagged (dry hopped) version. Poured a clear dark orange color with a soapy off white head. Aroma was of malty caramel and sprucy hops. Medium bodied with moderate to assertive hop bitterness. Flavors included malty cereal grain, toffee, and citrusy hop. Hops, hops, and more hops. Solid. Re-rate. Growler shared by iowaherkeye. Thanks for hauling this back form Minnesota Joey. Poured a slightly hazy orange-red color. Head was two fingers high and off white with decent retention. Some lace was left behind. The aroma was distinctly of grapefruit, but also a bit sweaty. There was assertive hop bitterness of about 8 out of 10 that lingered well after the finish. The flavor was similar to the aroma, lots of grapefruit, but there was also an ample malty caramel background. This is a good beer.

Can at Chris_o Shindig. Amber, ashtray sour and grapefruity hop aroma. That’s got a lot of grapefruit in it. Toffee. Good grapefruit and one of the best canned beers I’ve ever had.

One fantastic IPA...probably one of the most sessionable of the big IPA’s I’ve had in months. Great coppery crimson pour, with a moderately fluffy head that dissapates quickly. The nose is huge grapefruit and touches of pine resins. The big rich malt bottom oozes quality and balances the big bright hop bite very effectively. I wanted to order another one as soon as I finished my third sip...I wanted to avoid the two minute wait between pours...Finishes on a lingering hop slap that is equal parts bitter and dry. NICE!

Can via trade with piscator34. Deep copper-amber, slightly hazy with a few little chunky floaties, and a small white head. Fantastic aroma and flavour of green, citric hops and rich, slightly peaty malt. Great mouthfeel as well. This is one big, beautiful beer. Thanks very much, Kris!
