Commercial Description:
Like Hops? You'll like this fire-hued beer. This is the beer I have always dreamed of making. This is the beer that would come to mind while spending the last two years tearing down walls, hanging sheetrock, moving kegs, power washing the ceilings, arguing with various agencies, and cutting the water main. Without Golden Promise malt, made by family-owned Simpsons Malt, Furious would just be pissed offed. From Scotland, this malt is still produced in the tradition of turning over the barley by hand, resulting in a malt that is unsurpassed in its quality. Golden Promise is also used extensively by premium whisky distilleries such as The Macallan. This malt provides the backbone for the intense hop character. Four American hop varieties are used at a rate of over three pounds per barrel. The result is a rich malt sweetness infused with bright hop flavor and aroma from beginning to end. Oh yeah, it's about 6% alcohol and around 100 IBUs.

Thanks to hellomynameis for this one - what a cool beer. Darker brown (looks like a Scotch ale) with an off-white head. Aroma is a nice mix of earthy-floral hops and smoky malts - lots of peat and wood in there. Flavor is really nice - smoky, peaty, woody, sweet malts mixing with a nice herbal-earthen-floral hop blast. A wonderful cross between an IPA and a good Scotch ale. Reeeealy good. Sorry Sly Fox and Oskar Blues, but I just found my #1 favorite canned beer.

NorCal tasting Feb 07 - First time tasting an IPA from a can and I can safely say that it was a really nice beer. Fresh, green, hopped-up nose with a clean malt profile. Apearance was amber in color, clear with a nice hefty head. Mouthfeel was a little lighter than I like in IPA’s but overall it was still nice. Flavor was just a clean, crisp, hoppy, sweet malt combo that made this a very nice experience.

16 ounce can thanks to Levi. Pours a dark amber hue with a large white head and lots of lacing. The aroma is great; rich caramel, malts, and ton of spicy fruity hops. The flavor is just great; rich spicy bitter hops, very fresh tasting with a bitter pine finish on your palate. Lots of caramel and malt flavors as well. Smooth and easygoing, but a flavor explosion. Among my favorite IPAs ever. Awesome.

(Can, thanks oslo2116 and Guerde) Pours a beautiful deep red. Off white head. Fat citric hop aroma with grapefruit up front. Also some resin, fruity black tea and some floral notes. Some tropical tones of mango and starfruit. Toasted malt with cookie dough and caramel tones. Hints of glue and rubber sole. Grapefruit flavour with a slim malt backbone of light caramel and cookies. Some subtle fruit tones. Soft and round mouthfeel. Full lingering grapfruity and resiny bitterness. A very good, rather standard-ish IPA.

Can at maniac’s. Pours a clear amber with ample tan head. Nose is great sweet grapefruit and resiny hops. Flavor is caramel, big piney skunky hops. Finish is very bitter and lingering. Very good. And glad it comes in an awesome can!l

On tap at Kuma’s Corner. Pours red with a whitish head. I initially thought I was being served Surly Bender and was very surprised by the amount of hops that blasted my nose. Clean, defined grapefruit is all over the place along with caramel, and delving deeper, a hint of almonds. There is a continuous blast of hops throughout, especially in the finish. This is just brutally sucking the moisture out of my mouth with a lingering sting. The malts are fair, actually sporting some juicy caramel and more of a far-off toastier quality which may have merely resulted from the bitter devastation of my palate. After becoming almost acclimated to this brew, I was able to find some subtler hints of lemons and tea. This is not for the weak.

Can tasted at Saarlander’s SoCal tasting with saarlander, cquiroga, dirty_martini & kittiesandbeer, JohnC and others. Full 1-2" head of varing bubble sizes, that fades at a medium rate. Fun and interesting raw hop aroma. A nice little source bitterness covers the tongue.
