Pours a clear, dark amber/brown with a large, frothy, beige head. The aroma punches you in the face with heavy grapefruit and pine and just a touch of sweet caramel malts hiding in the background. The mouthfeel is the closest thing to perfect that I’ve ever gotten from and IPA; medium-bodied, creamy and lightly effervescent with a tight bitter finish. The flavor is an excellent blend of sweet caramel malts and in-your-face grapefruit and piney hops. Any hop head that has yet to savor this brew should immediately add it to their "want" list and start making friends with someone from The Land of a Thousand Lakes. The folks in MN are truly fortunate. Thanks again Tim. piscator34 (1132), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Apr 19, 2007 Amber in colour with medium carbonation. Enormous American hop aromas with elements of mandarin orange, pink grapefruit, tangerine, black pepper, earth, and cut grass. The citrus fruit character is quite dominant in the mouth as well, but are balanced out nicely by a smooth, but not overly sweet or caramel-like, maltiness. There’s a bit more of a herbal/leafy touch on the back end, with some fairly assertive bitterness. All of the elements are in balance, but the intensity of all of the flavors are off the charts. An amazing beer! kyzr (1127), Belgrade, Montana, USA

HOPS, my oh my are there hops on the nose. Pine is all over this nose. Big orange peel flavor up front that is well balanced with a hint of roasty malt. Medium body that coats the palate with hops, finish as expected is hoppy that just leads to the next sip! doubleo (1121), San Diego, California, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Dec 31, 2007 One of the best brews I have had in a good while. Pours an orangish yellow with a nice frothy white head that leaves moderate lace on the glass. Smells nice and hoppy, lots of citrus, oranges and maybe some grapefruit. A little grassy as well. Tastes of hops and citrus. Orange peels and grass. Smooth but bitter. Not too bitter but just bitter enough to be awesome. I can’t believe this beer came from a can. Good carbonation. 6.2% no problem. Love it. NobleSquirrel (1120), Chicago, Illinois, USA

Distinct C-hop aroma that really carried through into the bitterness of this beer. I knew it was bitter, but never would have guessed around a 100. Deep rich amber color and very nice malt/hop ratio. Very drinkable and nice.
Update - Cask at Map Room. This beer is unreal on cask with an absurd piney hop character and super fresh tasting. Definitely one of the best cask beers I’ve ever had. ditmier (1110), Boise, Idaho, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 10, 2008 Damn...nice pine and citrus nose and a burnt orange body that bordered on blood red. Very small head and minimal lacing. Flavor, unfortunately, is all hops...completely one-dimensional bitterness with nothing to balance it out. Better as it warms...aggressive is an understatement with this one!!! Hophead22 (1105), Redlands, by way of Wisconsin,, California, USA

Piney aroma, some caramel notes as well. Pretty bitter, not super harsh though, it lingers slightly, but in a good way. Pretty good
