At 6.2% its an IPA, but the hop rate here is all DIPA levels. Big huge piney resiny hop aromas, followed by monstrous resiny hop flavors. Hugely bitter finish. Huge, just huge. There’s a brown sugared toast for the malt, which is heavy enough but is clearly taking a back seat. Lightly hazed dark reddish copper, big beige head, thick and protein rich, with moderate lacing. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 3, 2008 Thick hazy amber - ugly body with a rich "we used a lot of hops" head. Big hop nose - orangey, wood with an earthy, breadcrusty background. Fat body is resiny with hops, in a pleasingly moderate bitterness matched by caramelized sugars that are only slightly sticky. An assault of hops - perhaps lacking the sense of style you see in the best PNW examples but this is nonetheless well-structured. Indra (2040), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA

Strong aroma of fresh, citric hops, some orange and flowers in conjunction with lighter notes of red apple fruitiness, pine, toasted malts and touches of fresh wood and earthiness. Clear medium red-copper color with a very fine but lasting head leaving wisps of lacing behind. Flavor is rather easily dominated by the suitably aggressive hop character, which brings flavors of tangerine, pineapple and herbs to go along with the massive bitterness, and blended towards the middle with a darkly honeyish, toasty malt character. Sprucy, leafy, tangy and again very solidly bittering at the finish. Finely effervescent and lightly resinous, oily and drying mouthfeel with a medium body. This stuff just makes with the hops, and fast. Thanks a bunch to theisti! vyvvy (2068), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA

The aroma is earthy, piny and floral hop goodness along with a solid deep toasted malt balance. Medium / thick body that is smooth for the style with some nice semi-soft carbonation. The flavor starts with very earthy hops, pine cones and the sturdy malt of the aroma. The finish is sticky with resiny hops. Very nice IPA ~ wish I could get it in my area. fly (1333), austin, Tejas, USA

Hops up front and through and through with good balance (not all hops) to boot. Wish this were available locally so I could say, no thanks, I had it when it was cool.
