Served from a firkin at Groveland Tap. Different smell then regular aroma of Bender, as the oak lends some vanilla and choclate. Very smooth/creamy and just a hint of coffee taste in there, and of course some hop bite. Awful tasty Oak cask version of Bender.

Better than Bender, not as good as Coffee Bender. Easy to drink, nice balanced and slightly sweet fruity notes. Needs to get more respect!

CASK: at the Happy Gnome (St. Paul, MN) on 2.14.09. Quite a different taste than regular Bender. The inclusion of the oak/bourbon flavor is a great add-on to Bender. Also smoother & less hoppy than Bender.

Firkin. Muddy looking brown with a good sized head. Aroma of caramel, nuts, and oak. Nice flavor, seems more mellow compared to the regular bender.

On draught at the Map Room in Chicago. Dark brown with a frothy beige head. Aroma dominated by wood and smoke. Taste of roasted malt, nuts, and smokey wood. Body was relatively light and crisp, a very good sipper.

I’d like to have it again. A pretty malty brown with some good depth, but I don’t think the flavors marry very well. I think you get BROWN and then OAK. Not as unified as I would like.

Firkin at Small Bar. Poured just slightly hazy medium brown with pretty much zero carbonation or head left. The aroma was soft with subtle, well-placed oak accents.. toasted caramel and nutty notes beneath.. light spicy herbal and lemon accents.. quite nice! The flavor had toasted nutty notes, caramel, and sweeter chocolate at the core.. tart grainy oak and vinegary tartness rode the edges, with an oaky, well-balanced finish. Light-medium bodied with low carbonation.. enjoyed the tart, oaky impression on an already great beer!
