akevitt (93), Valhalla, Minnesota, USA Jul 10, 2008 On draught at the Blue Nile for Al’s 40th.The beer was hazy gold-orange with generous off-white head. The aroma and flavor is similar to last year’s CynicAle. But, the flavor was less hoppy and slightly sweeter. Faint oak and hop finish. Palate-wise the beer was creamy and smooth. This beer has the record for longest lasting head (> 3hrs).

Nice estery aroma: sweet banana also.
Taste is nectar, sweet, slightly tannic oak finish.
Okay finish with a slight hop and oak profile.
Average. 1FastSTi (2388), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA Aug 12, 2008 FREE tap. The beer poured to an interestingly dark amber/copper hued body with a nice off-white head. The aroma is sweet and estery with definite oak and vanilla. The beer has a bunch of spicy things going on and the oak works pretty well with the saison. An easy drinking brew. drewbeerme (1782), Chicago, Illinois, USA Aug 11, 2008 on tap. pours hazed gold with white head. nose of vanilla, touch of hay, pepper, some citrus notes. flavor is vanilla, oak, caramel, biscuity, crisp. oak is underplayed. hardly seems like a saison and it sits pretty heavy. General_Gao (2434), Iowa City, Iowa, USA Aug 10, 2008 Draft. Poured a slightly hazy orange color. The head was white with decent retention and lacing. As with the standard Cynic, there were familiar aromas of yeasty bread dough, spices, and fruit (including citrus and apricot). I love how this smelled. The oak aging was not evident to me in the nose. Medium bodied and a little sweet with some bitterness emerging at the end. Smooth and creamy. The flavor profile included the likes of flaky apricot pastry, baking spices, yeasty bread dough, and a hint of orange. There was only a hint of oak. Tasty.
