Commercial Description:
Our interpretation of a German Oktoberfest beer. This beer is a single hop lager, hopped exclusively with Summit hops. Being a Surly beer, we decided to dry-hop it. Is that a traditional German way to brew it? Nein, but we ain't in Germany. We aged this beer over 11 weeks to let the flavors mellow into an exceptional taste. We used German malts and Crystal Rye for a unique flavor. Only one batch of this beer was brewed, so go and drink it while you can! Prosit!
Note: 2007 version brewed with Sterling hops.

Can courtesy of Secret Santa. Pours a dark golden color with a good sized fluffy white head. The aroma has floral and citrus hops with lighter moderate sweet malt in the background. Really reminds me more of an IPA. The flavor opens with the same hoppiness as the nose. More malt presence appears in the middle. Finish is back to hops. Enjoyable, but I’m not sure if it fits the style.

Can provided and shared by Yngwie, thanks. Stable white head. Golden/copper colored body. Beautiful smell of summerflowers up front. Spice and citrus to come. Whiffs of toasted malts. Citrussy and malty taste with some prominent bittering hops taking the lead all the way towards finish. Well-bodied. Lingering bitterness in the finish. Festbier plus!, very nice.

your perty red/gold with a head that sticks around... when cold not malty enough for me and very much like the furious which isn’t bad, but not too exciting either. I’m not all about rating to style... but ot quite what I expected... still, not bad. much better, more marzen-ny upon warming.. bumping the score up a bit

GABF 2007. Beer is light, clear, oxidized-looking gold with a small, white, frothy, mostly and quickly diminishing head.
The aroma is neat-o;redolent of autumnal vegetation. It’s malty with light notes of toasted grain, biscuit, trace of caramel; Hoppy with moderate/heavy notes of resin/pine, light/moderate notes of fall leaves and sap, lemon zest, trace of tea; Yeasty with a trace of dough.
The flavor is moderately/heavily sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter with a long, moderately bitter, light/moderately acidic and sweet finish. Light/moderate alcohol warmth in the aftertaste.
The body is medium, the texture is watery and the carbonation is lively.
Pretty swell.

Courtesy SoLan. Slightly cloudy rich orange copper color with a thin white layer of head. Sweet grainy nose, apricots, light hops. Slightly astringent start, carbonation a bit low. Grainy throughout, sweetness stays in check. Smells better than it iasted.

16 oz can, via tytoanderso. Pours a clear deep orange to copper body under a one finger fizzy off-white head. Some very fine lacing remained. Whoa! The nose is big green leafy hops over a toasted malt base. The rye is more of an accent, but clearly noticable. Not the aroma one expects for an O-fest. Weird. That’s the first word that came to mind with the first sip. It’s like a bite of a leafy herbal hop cone sandwich on rye bread with a touch of honey. What a crazy beer. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with nice soft fizzy carbonation and a lingering bitterness. Overall, this was pretty awesome. An unusual hybrid for sure. I think I want more of this.

Can. An orange beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet with primary notes of grapefruit, while the flavor is sweet with strongest notes of grapefruit, but also notes of malt and caramel. Much more like an IPA, than an Oktoberfest - maybe a Minnesota Oktoberfest ;-) Thanks Papsoe for sharing.

Exotic cinnamon and citrus hops with a noble core. American nobles? Attractive voluminous head atop a deep amber body. Nice, long maltiness, with an underlying bitterness, that supports rather than detracts. Actually the maltiness is really fantastic. Long and rich without being boozy as some festbiers can be. This is really exceptional. Thanks a ton Joey!
