Bottle, 6%. Cookie aroma, not sweet but spicy. Clear golden colour, small white head. The flavour is less spicy than aroma, more like a standard blonde. Clove aftertaste.

(Rating #814)

Any first impressions?
-A creamy foam stands atop the light blond hues, producing substantial lacing.
-Powdered milk and vegetal herbs rise from the yeasty aroma.
-Brown sugar is sprinkled on those ill-placed veggies.
-The frothy carbonation and lean maltiness are what is expected from a Belgian-style brew.

What if you dig deeper?
-It finishes stale even though it’s well within its announced life expectancy.
-Herbal spiciness, algae-like, shyly shows up in the back.
-I don’t know how it was at Vervifontaine, but this version is worse than boring.

Bottle; best before 11/03/2007.

Golden color, with a touch of pink, creamy head. Spicy aroma, just like mint, that must be the ginseng root, I suppose. Spicy, minty, malty flavor. Not unpleasant.

(330ml bottle) Bieropholie Order. The labels on these bottles crack me up... its like Jones Soda. Pours a medium, hazy golden body with a sediment filled, white frothy head. Nose of lemon and pepper. Flavour is far more spiced than expected: citrus, cardamom, lemon zest, and very yeasty. Good.

Hazy yellow gold hue, with a frothy white head, leaving some laces, subtle floral hops nose with a spicy peppery ginseng accent, sweet pale malt aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a crisp sweet pale malt, with a yeasty dough note, spicy ginseng, hint of citrus fruits, leading towards a smooth mild spicy hops bitterness finish.

[Bottled, Val-Dieu version] Clear golden, small head. Aroma of ginger and orange. Sweet with medium body and sparkling mouthfeel. Notes of fruit, almond and marmelade. No bitterness.
