Malt and bread aromas dominate. A slight hop aroma.
Excellent balance of bitter and malt. Long lasting bitter aftertaste brings out the grapefruit.
Nice full body that is smooth and very drinkable.

Lovely hops, long bitter, beautiful finish, a highlight at the festival, lovely quaffability, but with some stunning flavours, balance and complexity (Cask- KentBF 03') Nuffield (2749), Roseville, Minnesota, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jul 27, 2003 A classically American interpretation of a pale ale. This was rebranded Whitstable's "East India Pale Ale" from the Swale "Indian Summer Pale Ale". Hops here, hops there, hops everyway. Mild/gentle bitterness, smooth, slightly oily, citric, sharp. Well brewed. (gravity pour at 2003 Kent Beer Festival) hoppygrrrl (104), Albion, Michigan, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 10, 2003 This ale has a very complex, sweet aroma, with notes of honey, yeast, vanilla, and something pleasantly musty (lavender, I think). With its frosty orange appearance with lots of yeast(?) particles floating about, Indian Summer is appropriately named. Zingy, hoppy, delicious. mribm (419), Hurley, New York, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 12, 2003 Poured from the bottle with an outrageously large head which lasted until the bottom of the glass. This was a very drinkable pale ale with nice hoppiness. This would make a nice session beer as it is extremely drinkable. The one thing I didn't like about this beer was the yeast sediment in the bottle, which ended up in my glass. Slick (1962), Thief River Falls, Minnesota, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 26, 2003 Initial pour is a brilliant golden orange. The secondary pour adds a dark brown hue and a whole lot sediment. The aroma has a nice balance of sticky malt and hops. My initial inclination is to say that it's some sweet citrus fruit dripping with caramel syrup. I like hopsrus assertion that lime is present. I must certainly agree. A nice thick, malty body helps fill the mouth with caramel, lime, orange and a bit of lemon. Initially sweet and then pleasantly bitter toward the finish. A great beer that I could drink regularly, and would it if was available locally. Well worth the find.
