Commercial Description:
Sweetwater Blue is a unique lighter style ale enhanced with a hint of fresh blueberry. When you drink this beer take a good whiff first and you’ll smell the blueberry influence, but on the taste it’s extremely subtle and the finish is extra clean. Ain’t no fruit beer, but it is our breakfast beer, usually folks that are looking to quench their thirst or for those that are new to the “good beer” lifestyle; this is their choice. This brew and the ESB were the original two to go through the tanks at SweetWater in February 1997.

Medals: Bronze medal winner at the 1998 World Beer Cup, Fruit Beer category; Always the funky favorite at any outdoor beer festival

Malt: 2 Row, Wheat

Hops: Centenial

Super clear light yellow with a good white head. Smell is blueberry cream pie with some doughiness in there too. Flavor is dough but is mostly a dry malt with a blueberry finish and a watery blueberry aftertaste. Medium to high carbonation. Decent and drinkable and not very fruity overall.

This is a medium-bodied beer that has a tangy blueberry flavor. The aftertaste is somewhat bittersweet, similar to a blueberry pie filling.

Tap at the Mellow Mushroom in Chattanooga. The body was dark gold with a white head. The aroma was floral with some blueberries. The taste was light blueberries with some toast. Simple, but one of the better blueberry beers I have tried.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a small disappearing head. The aroma was mild blueberry, light citrus, grass. The flavor is moderately sweet, lighter blueberry, hay, with slight bitterness in the finish. Not my favorite offering from them.

On draft at the Mellow Mushroom. Needed a lunch beer and thought this might star the day off right. Amber orange pour with a thin white head. Aroma is bursting of blueberry, with a bit of wheat sneaking in later in the glass. Finishes up with a blueberry malty thing that is to be expected of this kind of beer. Not the greatest, but servicable.

Thanks kpresley77 for the bottle. There wasn’t much of anything going on with this one. Poured a pale gold color with a thin white head. Aroma was wheat and a very subtle hint of blueberry. Was surprised at how bland the taste was. Not much blueberry, or anything going on here. Very thin in the mouth with a crisp finish. Would not go out of my way to find this again.

...was surprised at the quality of this beer. Good blend of wheat malt and the natural blueberry flavor, not overpowering, just enough to make it very drinkable. Slightly lacking body, but that’s alright in this case. I would try it if I were you, that is if you like fruit beers.
