Commercial Description:
Sweetwater Blue is a unique lighter style ale enhanced with a hint of fresh blueberry. When you drink this beer take a good whiff first and you’ll smell the blueberry influence, but on the taste it’s extremely subtle and the finish is extra clean. Ain’t no fruit beer, but it is our breakfast beer, usually folks that are looking to quench their thirst or for those that are new to the “good beer” lifestyle; this is their choice. This brew and the ESB were the original two to go through the tanks at SweetWater in February 1997.

Medals: Bronze medal winner at the 1998 World Beer Cup, Fruit Beer category; Always the funky favorite at any outdoor beer festival

Malt: 2 Row, Wheat

Hops: Centenial

Bottle. Pours pale golden, with a small white head and little retention. Aroma is like Booberry cereal--strong bluebery and bread. Flavor is similar, with a bit of sweetness. Finish is a little watery, but not that bad for a fruit beer.

Dark golden pour with a very thin and short lived head. Blueberry is indeed in the aroma, along with a bit of wheat. Pretty heavy carbonation. Taste reveals even more blueberries, not a big fan of blueberries so I can’t tell if they are real or extract. It’s OK, really just a one-trick pony blueberry beer.

Bottle from tonraner on 3/24/08. Thanks Joe! Pours with a small white head, that very quickly dissipates. Dark yellow color. Nice blueberry aroma from the bottle and the pint glass. Reminds me of blueberry pie filling. Very little flavor, maybe a little corn. Not bad either. Pretty fun.

Nice fruit beer. Pours yellow/blonde with not much of a white head. Aroma is overwhelmingly blueberry muffins. I think I can actually smell wheat in there along with the blueberry muffins. Very nice. Tastes like a light wheat ale. Blueberry does not smash you over the head, which is a good thing. Very thirst quenching. Nice brew for hot Atlanta nights. From a bottle purchased in Pace, Florida. Good job with this beer.

This is a good blueberry beer. GREAT blueberry aroma without any sweetness or overpowering blueberry flavor. Easy to drink with a pizza!

Bottle. I had to review my score 2 or 3 times. I didn’t mean to score it this high. But...yea, it deserves it. Smell is nothing but blueberry. Color gold. Taste is pleasant. You can taste the blueberry but it is not sweet. I would recommend it.

This is an experiment. I’m rating a beer and singing heavy metal at band practice. It’s weird when things taste like blueberries but aren’t blue. This one is straw colored. Thin white head. It’s not completely dominated by blue berry at first. There’s a bit of citrus that I assume comes from the wheat and a good balance of hops. The more I sip, the more the blueberry flavor stacks up and by the end I’ve grown rather bored. I don’t know if I’m impressed with this beer for not being too hard to finish despite the abundance of berry or if I’m impressed with myself for being able to get it down rather quick despite the abundance of berry.
