Commercial Description:
Sweetwater Blue is a unique lighter style ale enhanced with a hint of fresh blueberry. When you drink this beer take a good whiff first and you’ll smell the blueberry influence, but on the taste it’s extremely subtle and the finish is extra clean. Ain’t no fruit beer, but it is our breakfast beer, usually folks that are looking to quench their thirst or for those that are new to the “good beer” lifestyle; this is their choice. This brew and the ESB were the original two to go through the tanks at SweetWater in February 1997.

Medals: Bronze medal winner at the 1998 World Beer Cup, Fruit Beer category; Always the funky favorite at any outdoor beer festival

Malt: 2 Row, Wheat

Hops: Centenial

Draught at Flying Saucer (Nashville TN) - Very smooth drinking beer, light color with a wonderful smell. Beer has a decent complexity with a distinct blueberry draw. One of my favorite beers for the warmer months.

On tap at Ginny Lane in Foley Alabama - Pours amber with a short lived white head. Aromas of slight blueberries, some frosted flakes, and other grainy notes. Flavor is slight blueberry. Fresh blueberry! Blended well with grains, and a slight herbal hop finish. Smooth and easy to drink. Quite refreshing on a hot day!

I liked this one, it clearly stood out from other blueberry beers. The flavor is dominated by blueberries, but it isn’t overly sweet. Not a good session beer, but very enjoyable.

Courtesy of Nick76. Big blueberry aroma with little else save a vaguely sharp pepper-like aroma. The body is a lusterless gold and it is virtually headless. Wow, mild blueberry and some sort of herbal/floral spicy note that could be chamomile or something along those lines. Very overtly spicy with a fruity finish. Not at all what I was expecting. Quite a pleasant surprise. Damn, that hot chili pepper finish mixed with the mildly sweet blueberry notes is pretty nice. Awesome flavor here. Close observers will note some similarities in flavor between this and Stone VE 03. Nice surprise this one.

By memory, taste of blueberry juice. Not a strong beer. Bad aftertaste. Major disappointment.

poured into tulip. pours a clear golden yellow, light carbonation with low head, fresh blueberry aroma, fizzy on the palate and blueberry’s pronounced with a peppery finish.

Bottle. My cousin Bob’s son Jeremy brought up from the brewery for my dad and I tried it. I didn’t realize that it would be blueberry until it hit the nose and tongue but it is... then a strange black pepper flavor comes through as well as some hops and slightly sweet malt. Nose is malty and slightly fruity but it’s in the initial flavor that I get the blueberry and as the brew hits the back of the tongue... black pepper everywhere. Kind of cool , but one is enough.
