Commercial Description:
Sweetwater Blue is a unique lighter style ale enhanced with a hint of fresh blueberry. When you drink this beer take a good whiff first and you’ll smell the blueberry influence, but on the taste it’s extremely subtle and the finish is extra clean. Ain’t no fruit beer, but it is our breakfast beer, usually folks that are looking to quench their thirst or for those that are new to the “good beer” lifestyle; this is their choice. This brew and the ESB were the original two to go through the tanks at SweetWater in February 1997.

Medals: Bronze medal winner at the 1998 World Beer Cup, Fruit Beer category; Always the funky favorite at any outdoor beer festival

Malt: 2 Row, Wheat

Hops: Centenial

(Bottle) Pours a clear golden body with a small white head. Aroma of blueberries was apparent. Light blueberry flavor and aftertaste. I enjoy fresh blueberries, but not necessarly in my beer...

Not really a beer drinker’s beer. Not bad for dessert. Very fruity. I’ll drink this if my only other choices are Bud or Miller.

courtesy of decaturstevo - Pours a golden color with a very faint head. The blueberry aroma is detectable. The berry flavor is present, but not over powering. Light bodied and easy to drink. Not bad. Thanks Steve.

At Taste of the Highlands. Glad, now that this is off the list and I didn’t have to buy a whole six pack. Hints of blueberries obviously but not like a blueberry popsickle. I am not a fan of the blueberry beers so enough said.

"Poured a super light golden color okay head and laced okay as well. Aroma was of blueberries. Flavor was of spices and blueberries and wheat , didn’t think it was going to have that much flavor after the pour. Not bad"

A very good beer if one wants to wash a stinky beer out of the mouth. Very, Very fruity with a strong blueberry essence. Drinks and pours smooth.

12-ounce bottle. Pours very translucent gold, headless (long drive to Seattle for this beer, maybe?). Laceless. Strong blueberry note on the nose--not much worth talking about anything but the blueberry there. Most of the other flavors are in support of the blueberry; there’s some earthy hay and a bit of an herbal hop note, but they’re really there to give body to the berry sweetness. Very refreshing, and probably a very good bbq beer. I’ll probably never reach for a fruit beer on the shelf, but being handed one of these is a nice change of pace now and then.

Unsual blueberry aroma and flavor, smelled more like blueberries than tasted like them. A light bodied, dry, fizzy beer. A beer I would find interesting if someone homebrewed a batch, I can’t imagine this beer being a retail boom. I have 5 more of them as I drink them I may re-rate if my thoughts change on it.
