Commercial Description:
Sweetwater Blue is a unique lighter style ale enhanced with a hint of fresh blueberry. When you drink this beer take a good whiff first and you’ll smell the blueberry influence, but on the taste it’s extremely subtle and the finish is extra clean. Ain’t no fruit beer, but it is our breakfast beer, usually folks that are looking to quench their thirst or for those that are new to the “good beer” lifestyle; this is their choice. This brew and the ESB were the original two to go through the tanks at SweetWater in February 1997.

Medals: Bronze medal winner at the 1998 World Beer Cup, Fruit Beer category; Always the funky favorite at any outdoor beer festival

Malt: 2 Row, Wheat

Hops: Centenial

Bottle. Flowery blueberry aroma. Light golden yellow with little head. Light blueberry malt flavor - strong but not cloying - pleasant without becoming a sorority girl beer.

Pours straw blonde. Great blueberry aroma. Tastes like blueberry beer! not like beer hidden beneath blueberry suryp like Seadog.

The Blue is a very underappreciated brew. The blueberry flavor prompts many to call it a ’girlie’ beer. To the contrary, the flavor is not overpowering and compliments the overall quality of the Sweetwater style.

Pale gold. Billowing, bubbly, white head. Nose is all blueberries. Blueberries are the dominant flavor with an underlying, crisp balance of malt and hops. Clean finish. This actually would be very good at breakfast. Light body. Very good.

May favorite beer by Sweetwater and maybe my fav beer of all. Is an ale with a hint of blueberries that you might not catch if not looking for it. Not a fruity taste at all. Just smooth.

Bottle. Clear gold pour. Big blueberry aroma. More blueberries in the flavor, but kinda lacking a malt back. Thin, and the blueberry tartness seems to linger too much on the palette.
