Commercial Description:
Sweetwater Blue is a unique lighter style ale enhanced with a hint of fresh blueberry. When you drink this beer take a good whiff first and you’ll smell the blueberry influence, but on the taste it’s extremely subtle and the finish is extra clean. Ain’t no fruit beer, but it is our breakfast beer, usually folks that are looking to quench their thirst or for those that are new to the “good beer” lifestyle; this is their choice. This brew and the ESB were the original two to go through the tanks at SweetWater in February 1997.

Medals: Bronze medal winner at the 1998 World Beer Cup, Fruit Beer category; Always the funky favorite at any outdoor beer festival

Malt: 2 Row, Wheat

Hops: Centenial

Pours a clear gold with a touch of amber. An inch-thick head on top with an aroma that is overwhelmingly BLUEBERRY. Flavor is, not surprisingly, blueberry over sweet malt. Thin-bodied with a vaguely medicinal aftertaste. I think this would’ve been better as a wheat beer, similar to Abita Purple Haze ... something with a bit more body. Nowhere near as good as Sweetwater’s other offerings.

Thanks to beeryum for this one. Pours pale gold. Great blueberry aroma, in addition to some hops. Tastes of malt, blueberries, and some tart hopcit at the finish. Refreshing, but not overly complex. A very unique and enjoyable style.

Poured a wonderful golden yellow, with nice white head that just did not last. There is a definite blueberry nose, but, it is a complement, not over board or invasive. The finish is crisp and clean. Quite nice. This is extremely drinkable, and, come lawnmower and garden weather, I would enjoy this more. Why this is getting low ratings is beyond me.

Pours golden with a nice head. Is the head actually slightly bluish-purple or am I just imagining it? The aroma definitely has the blueberries. Flavor is the same, but not sweet like some fruit beers. A decent complement of hop aroma and flavor. Not really my style, but this would be a good beer to drink all day by the pool in the summer.

Refreshing and light. Great nose. Pours similar to a light lager in my opinion. A great beer for a lazy Atlanta summer afternoon

Aroma is wonderful. I love bluebeeries, LOL. Pours a golden yellow color with a nice amount of head. As far as fruit beers go this one is very good.

(bottle) aroma is full of blueberry. Color is pale gold. Almost no head. Flavor is blueberry. A but thin in body. Overall a bit too fruity for me.

This beer was quite unique. I was always looking for a fruity beer but never really had the chance until I came to Georgia. I must say that the aroma is quite pleasing and the taste is even better with the hint of blueberries lingering on your tonque. It’ll leave you wanting more
