Commercial Description:
Sweetwater Blue is a unique lighter style ale enhanced with a hint of fresh blueberry. When you drink this beer take a good whiff first and you’ll smell the blueberry influence, but on the taste it’s extremely subtle and the finish is extra clean. Ain’t no fruit beer, but it is our breakfast beer, usually folks that are looking to quench their thirst or for those that are new to the “good beer” lifestyle; this is their choice. This brew and the ESB were the original two to go through the tanks at SweetWater in February 1997.

Medals: Bronze medal winner at the 1998 World Beer Cup, Fruit Beer category; Always the funky favorite at any outdoor beer festival

Malt: 2 Row, Wheat

Hops: Centenial

I think I tried this while visiting FSU for an audition, but unfortunately didn’t take great tasting notes.

12 oz. bottle courtesy of a trade with AtlAggie. Pours a hazy gold with a moderate white head that lasted through the first two sips and left minimal lace. The beer eventually became clear by mid-glass. Pleasant aroma of blueberry, wheat grain, and some grassy hops. The blueberry is less distinctive in the flavor than in the aroma. Wheat grain and some mild grassy hops are present in the flavor as well. Mild-moderate bitterness at the finish. A good thirst quencher on a hot day.

Draught. Pilsner color with a fluffy white head. Aroma is blueberry syrup with some vanillins coming through toward the end. Flavor only has a touch of that blueberry sweetness, then a crisp hop and carbonated bite finish. Kind of salty sweet if you will. I will say its lightness and effervescence makes it refreshing but not exciting.

Pours a light golden color with a small white quickly vanishing head. It has a strong but pleasant smell of blueberries. It has a slight citrus tastes a little wit like flavor and a strong but not overwhelming blueberry taste. This is a refreshing and ok tasting beer.

Pours clear yellow/gold with a short-lived white head. Heavy blueberry aroma, like smelling extract or something with some grain. Taste is tart blueberry and normal grain. Very sweet.

gold color, no head, fruity blueberry nose, candy wit flavor, sweet cloying blueberry, artificial sweetner flavor, hints of some wit like spice, tasty but very one dimensional
