Commercial Description:
Sweetwater Blue is a unique lighter style ale enhanced with a hint of fresh blueberry. When you drink this beer take a good whiff first and you’ll smell the blueberry influence, but on the taste it’s extremely subtle and the finish is extra clean. Ain’t no fruit beer, but it is our breakfast beer, usually folks that are looking to quench their thirst or for those that are new to the “good beer” lifestyle; this is their choice. This brew and the ESB were the original two to go through the tanks at SweetWater in February 1997.

Medals: Bronze medal winner at the 1998 World Beer Cup, Fruit Beer category; Always the funky favorite at any outdoor beer festival

Malt: 2 Row, Wheat

Hops: Centenial

Draft at Sweetwater, Atlanta Airport. Pours a yellow-gold, virtually no head to speak of. Aroma is right away blueberry, not much else. Blueberries dominate the flavor profile also. Fortunately the blueberries don’t linger annoyingly on the toungue, finish is crisp and clean, very little bitterness.

Yellow pour with white head. Blueberry and malts in aroma. Flavor is nice mix of malts and blueberry, though not overpowering fruity notes. Not bad at all.

I got to try this on tap during a layover at the Atlanta Airport. Pours a light yellow with a white head. Aroma is blueberry, malts, lavender. Flavor is blueberry, malts, perfume, lavender. Flavoring is interesting for a fruit beer of this type, I actually enjoyed this a bit.

Pours golden with a white head and a blueberry aroma. Flavor is odd at first, then mellows to a light blueberry.

Thanks lithy! Perhaps some blueberry on the nose, but I get dry old comic books. Crystal clear yellow, head fell quickly to nothing. Blueberry note starts crisp and dry, finishes fresh and sweet. Dry honeyed cereal, reminds me of camping.

Pours golden with small head. Aroma is nice sweet with blueberries and some hops. Taste - Like a Budweiser with some blueberry influence. Overall - Didn’t like this beer at all. Tried it years ago then again now. Still sux in my opinion.

Bottle as shown. Pours a clear golden with a small white head that diminishes quickly to nothing. The aroma is a very sweet fruit with blueberry and light hop. Decent lacing along the glass. The taste is similar to the aroma with a strong blueberry and a tart finish. A good fruit beer if you like blueberries with it very present with this brew.

Taste 3/9 bottle. Looks: Clear golden body with a small ring of bubbles around the glass. Aroma: Blueberry muffins. Taste: Like you are eating a blueberry muffin and drinking a kolsch at the same time. If you want blueberries, it is great. If you don’t, bypass this beer. It is well executed for what it is.
