Poured a dark amber color with a small quickly dissipating white head. Nose is fruity and slightly spicy with notes of bread, clove, banana, and slight blueberry. Medium body with lively carbonation. Sweet malty flavor, I didn’t get much wheat but I did get the rye spiciness. Notes of caramel, candy sugar, light earthy hops, and subdued blueberry. A little on the sweet side but relatively balanced, pretty good.

This was not superb but it was a good normal beer. kp (8399), Woodstock, Georgia, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 1, 2009 22 oz bottle courtesy of GAManiac. Thanks, Grant! POurs a muted orange amber, a bit hazy, getting darker as it goes up, a small offwhite head that laces a bit. Aromas are grainy, cereal malts, light sweetness of honey, wheat, and a light fruity berry essence. Slight Belgian yeast, doughy. Initial is lighter side of medium bodied, flour, dough, bread, and cereal malts up front, wheat with a light Belgian spice, decent banana, slight pear and apple fruitiness, a bit of dry champagne, light blueberry after all the cereal malts. Very subtle rye malts, Belgian yeast comes on stronger further in, dry and fruity, as the berry helps ease that down a bit, but still pretty much banana and Belgian yeast forward after everything. A bit of florals, light bitterness in the finish. This is ok, but not a huge fruit element overall for me, just a bit of a lacking Belgian.. not bad. Skyview (4045), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 1, 2009 Sampled from 22-oz bomber during Darkness Day 2009 in Brooklyn Center, MN. Pours a semi-clear dark amber colored brew with a thin off-white head that quickly dissipates. Aroma of Belgian yeast, bread dough, a hint of banana and some light berries. Taste is medium bodied, some carbonation with flavors of Belgian yeast, banana esters, some light tart berries, golden grain malt and some rye. Finish is semi-sweet with a yeast and golden grain malt aftertaste. Blueberries are well hidden in this special beer. unclemattie (2411), Georgia, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/20 | Oct 31, 2009 22oz bottle. Blue ’Dank Tank’ Label. Deep Amber color. Rock white head. No aroma of fresh bluebeeries. Only the aroma of fresh sourdough dough, a nice Belgian yeast spice character. Lots of bread in the nose. No fruit. Flavor is the same. Lots of bread, no fruit. Very dry, full bodied. Lots of malt, heavy chewy texture. Finishes with a bit of a sweet apple cider tartness. A bit of sweet in the end. Very good, don’t know if I’d go running for this one again though. Ibrew2or3 (2761), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA

Pours clear deep copper with amber core and thin off white head. The aroma is interesting to say the least with Belgian spicy yeast notes, light fruity blueberry and along with spiced apple. The taste brings up some of the same characteristics. I get yeasty spice moving into berry fruitiness, winter spices and apple. GAManiac (1155), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 27, 2009 Pours a hazy reddish amber with a small off-white head that recedes to a tiny collar quickly and leaves no lacing at all.
For a beer with tons of blueberries, I don’t smell much in the way of blueberries. There is a ton of Belgian yeast, candi sugar and bananas, lots of bananas.
Like the smell, sugary sweet with lots of bananas and Belgian yeast. I’m still not getting any blueberries, except maybe a little bit in the finish after it warms a bit.
The mouthfeel is slick with low carbonation and sticky sweet overall.
This is a big, sweet fruit beer with much less blueberries than I was expecting. It’s a good beer, but a little bit too sweet to be extremely drinkable.
