Piney, with a full underlying malt base.
Well balanced, not overly sweet or cloying. Should age nicely and be a smooth treat.
Worth a re-rate down the road. eaglefan538 (2383), Wilmington, Delaware, USA

The pour was a beautiful amber-orange color, pretty clear, nice frothy huge head, incredible lacing, about as good an appearance as you can get from the style. The aroma was piney floral hops, light citrus, some caramel notes underneath it all. The flavor was full brown sugarey-light tea bags (in a good way), caramel, full resinous piney hops. Mouthfeel was full, yet not sticky. A nice concoction, worthy of being placed among the best of the Left Coast! Thanks, Jacob! Magjayran (1379), Durham, North Carolina, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 25, 2007 Dark amber color with a fairly dense tan head. Big citrusy tangerine aroma that reminds me more of a DIPA than barley wine. The taste is citrusy as well but with a tad of caramel. It tastes every bit of 10% ABV and could use a little more carbonation. Still this is a very good beer that is fun to split with a couple friends. ¾ (4999), Colorado, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 23, 2007 1L bottle thanks to CaptainCougar. Sharp, well-hoped sweet honey, cedar, crystal malt-heavy nose, with notes of sherry and spicy oak. First impression on the tongue is that’s it’s a little thin, I guess for what I was expecting... meaning something with the heavyness of Bigfoot. Almost seems like it was lightened with some candy sugar (without the huge sweetness), as it falls apart on the back rapidly, leaving a dull, thin, lightly spicy hop and cedar residue. The flavor never seems to fully develop. Nothing really terrible with this one, but the body and the lack of flavor depth are the main reason that this one suffers. hopscotch (5500), Vero Beach, Florida, USA

Hazy amber ale with a small, creamy, white head. Sweet, cotton candy and tropical fruit nose. The flavor is sweet, but also moderately bitter and a touch acidic with essences of pineapple and grapefruit rind. Medium to full-bodied with fizzy carbonation. Finishes fruity, sweet and fairly bitter. Thanks for sharing, kp! KieferUGA (461), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 22, 2007 1L bottle. Pours a deep mahogany with a medium sized, white head. Aroma of citrus and pines, nice and hoppy. First taste is a bit hoppy, nice floral sip. That quickly gives way to a caramel sweetness, some raisins, honey. Bready finish with a hoppy undertones. Interesting beer for a cool, fall evening. mgumby10 (1858), Jupiter, Florida, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Nov 18, 2007 Courtesy kp. Pours a cloudy orange red with a small off white head. Smells of some hops, dark fruit, and maybe some molasses and raisins in there too. Malts are there as well. The flavor is much of the same. Has a lot of typical barley wine characters, but not as bready and yeasty as many others which I liked. The fruits and hops seemed to join forces to make up most of the flavor characters. Pretty nice. fordest (1954), Santee/San Diego, California, USA
