| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 9, 2008 Very malty aroma with lots of caramel and moderate piny hops. Slight bit of bready notes.
Good size rocky head, off-white with lots of lacing. Slightly hazy. Orange color body.
Strong caramel sweetness in the taste. Moderately hoppy (this beer is about a year old at this point). Very light oxidation. Relatively long finish.
Full bodied - slightly syrupy with medium to low carbonation. Moderately alcoholic on the finish.
Overall, well done. Grew on me - I’d like to try it fresh but have a feeling the beer would taste too green with a rough hop character. Good though. StoutCat (85), Rockville, Maryland, USA

Bottle was aged for about 3 years. Color is amber with thin white head. Flavor is dry and sweet. Aroma of caramel malt and light barley.
Could hardly notice the 10% abv. heemer77 (4304), Savannah, Missouri, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 8, 2008 More classy names form Sweetwater. The body was deep orange to amber. The aroma was massive grapefruit with some bread crust. The taste had some oranges and bread crust. There was also some almond character. On the hoppy end of the style, this had alcohol burn in the finish. illinismitty (1797), Nashville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 1, 2008 Bottle at Noogfest 08. Pours copper amber with an off white head. Aroma of fruity ale esters and citrusy hops. Medium bodied. Flavor of caramel with a moderate amount of sweetness, countered by grapefruit and tangerine hoppiness. This was decent, but comes across more like a double IPA or ASA than a barleywine. I would be curious to try a fresh sample to get more of the hop profile. hapjydeuce (771), Del Mar, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 2, 2008 Wetherel brought a big bottle of this to share with Sean, myself and others at the PP Bottle Shop. I think he said it had about 6 months of age. Clear golden brown color with some mircobubbles hanging around. Ginger spiced caramel aroma with undertones of raspberry, pine sap and almond. Very pleasant flavor; more caramel with coconut, I remember a bit of tang that could be some beginning oxidation? Smooth body that is pretty well rounded. Tasty! Cletus (5057), Connecticut, USA

Smells of caramel, lots of fruity hints. Taste is a little messy with a lot of chewy malt and some resiny hops. Average. jasonp (1510), Sterling/Dulles, Virginia, USA
