Cask version. Poured a dark brown-black. Malty aroma..roasty, coffee, smoky, and a nice amount of hops. Flavors continue with the coffee and adds some chocolate. Long roasty finsih with a smooth mouthfeel. Light to medium bodied.

Very dark pour with small tan head. Aromas of roasted malt, caramel, and cocoa. Flavors the same, with a bit more hop bitterness than expected. Yet, very smooth. A pretty decent brew.

Poured almost black with little head. No lacing. Aroma is somewhat burnt caramel. Taste is nice because it gets better as it goes. First taste seemed a little bitter and burnt. As a few more sips went down, the flavor mellows with a great smooth aftertaste. A nice suprise.

Dark, almost opaque pour with a little foam and some reasonable lacing. Malt flavors with a coffee aftertaste and a rather interesting hop level. Not my favorite, but a solid drink all the same.

12oz bottle BB12/21/?? Dark Brown, very little head, nearly opaque...chocolate, slight licquorice, bit o’ hop spice. Not heavy, medium to light body makes it easy drinking. More liquorice and dark malts in the flavor. Good, solid, slugging porter. Liquorice gives way to a gritty, earthy, chocolate malt character in the finish.

I enjoyed this beer. Nice deep red to black color with a tan head. The aroma was fairly smokey and kind of sweet. The overall flavor was very beany (chocolate and coffee); though not too sweet, thus the finish had just enough hoppy character to make the beer well balanced. Not the best porter ever. but a fine example of Sweetwater’s excellent brews.

Sweetwater makes some good brews. This is one of them. I don’t really even like porters in general, but this one is extra smooth and less biting. It still is quite opaque and dark, tasting of malt and chocolate, but it is not as thick as say, Guinness, and for a porter, I’d say it is noticeably thinner. Two thumbs up.

The first thing I noticed when I poured this beer was how dark it actually was. The beer was a very dark brown with a very small head. The chocolate malt is very evident in the finish. Its also very smooth on the palate.
