Notes of cola and chocolate in the nose. Chocolaty, sweet flavor balanced by burnt malt tannins and hop bitterness. Lightly oxidized and pungent. Medium-bodied with lively carbonation. Chocolaty, dry finish. Kudos to jimbowood for sending the bottle! mkgrenwel (420), Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA

Molasses and brown sugar. Coffee. Lots of chocolate. Distinctly bitter in the back. Reminds me of the bitterness of grass or bad greens, which is not a pleasant flavor. Very smooth palate. Creamy on the mouth. Slightly low carbonation. Maybe there’s something terribly wrong with my palate today, but this is a very good beer ruined by an unrestrained bitterness.

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 16, 2006 This is a pretty good porter. To be able to get it locally is a privlage. Dark brown in color. Maltiness with an ok hop finish, good balance. Slight mocha if I remember correctly. JPDIPSO (4926), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Jul 9, 2006 Bottle ala CaptainCougar. Dark brown color with a small lid of tan bubbles. Brown sugar, lactose, toasted malt, hint of coffee and chocolate chips are all found in the aroma, but nothing stands out or draws you in. The start is rich with sweet roasted malt dark stewed fruit, including prunes and date. Things thin out in the middle and finish making one, unfortunately forget the start. Dry roasted malt, some iron and rust all come into play. If the start held out to the finish this would be awesome. Instead I’ve got a brew that’s like a siren leading one to ones doom. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Jul 2, 2006 This beer came to me in my beer club. I am not familiar with the brewer. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a medium sized tan head. The aroma is light roasty malts and a hint of chocolate. The mouthfeel is smooth and creamy. The flavor is bitter and tangy with light roasted malts and a light chocolate element on the finish. gferd (99), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 21, 2006 This beer has a creamy head with a sweet/malt aroma. Begins with a solid chocolate taste and finishes a bit weak. As my glass gets less full, I like it more.
