Dark black porter, with collapsing moka head. Light chocolate aroma with light coffee notes. In mouth, a sourish metallic bitter chocolate, a bit bilous and unpleasant. This beer did not wistand the test of time. From Goldtwins, May 2004.

This porter pours a dark black color from a 12oz bottle. Small sized white foamy head. Aroma is lightly roasted malts, some chocolate and coffee. A medium bodied Porter. Malts are semi-sweet chocolate, touch of coffee and some vanilla. Hops are slightly bitter and a touch earthy. A little thin tasting for a porter, but it has a nice round soft carbonation that makes up for that somewhat. Crisp and dry finish. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is crisp and dry. Aftertaste is slightly bitter with some coffee.

Pours a dark chocolate brown with a mocha head. Aroma is brown sugar, chocolate. Taste is a little bitter with hints of coffee. Not as sweet as one would think from the aroma. Aftertaste is mild bitter hops; stays around for a while. A little light on the body, but otherwise good.

Pours a deep, ruby/brown with a quick, tan head. Rich, dark aromas are smoky/peaty with coffee and a whiff of chlorine. Flavor finds burnt coffee and smoky bitterness wrapped in a thin body with ticklish carbonation. Lactose/chocolate in a dry finish. Good, not great.

Really enjoyed this beer from Sweetwater. Dark color and light head. Just a hint of chocolate flavor and crisp aftertaste.

I can’t belive I’m just getting around to reviewing this beer, since Sweetwater is getting ready to stop making it. Anyway, there was a strong dark chocolate and mild coffee aroma, with a faint hint of hops. The appearance was a creamy head that completely diminished, excellent lacing, and was black. Flavor was unimpressive. Light bitterness and sweetness. This tasted more like a stout than a porter. In a blind tasting I would classify this as a stout.

Bottle extra from TheBeerCellar2: Dark brown with a small off white head. Chocolaty aroma, a bit of coffee. Chocolaty flavor some nice roastiness. Other than that, not much going on here

Bottle: Courtesy of TheBeerCellar2 via trade. Nice combination of chocolate, pine, and light coffe in the aroma. I’m also detecting a faint smell of alcohol. Pours a dark reddish-brown with just the slightest hint of transparency. Small beige head quickly fades to a ring. Moderate roastiness up front doesn’t seem to blend well with light sugary chocolate and fruit. Finishes with some nuttiness and a hint of metal. The flavors just don’t mesh for me.
