I think I overrated this beer the first time. My description seems pretty accurate, but the scores are a bit high. This is a roasty, chocolaty, yeasty porter, moderately bitter, lightly sweet. The roasty aroma is pleasant, but I’m not fond of the yeasty smell. Creamy and medium-full bodied, but the carbonation is just too expansive inside the mouth to be fully enjoyable. Dark brown color. Tall, tan head is frothy, but still consists of small bubbles. Retention is superb, holding a thin layer for the entire session, but lacing is non-existent with this bottle once again. It’s a good-tasting porter, but hardly exceptional, maybe slightly above average for the style.
26-Sep-04 (12 oz bottle: Obtained 17-Sep-04 in trade with goldtwins, thanks Larry!) Not a bad way to start off with this being my first beer from Georgia. This porter is fairly sweet, malty, lightly roasted, mildly bitter and seemingly a bit higher in alcohol than the typical porter. Lightly smoky at first, but that seems to fall away as the palate adjusts. The flavor is reminiscent of a mild milk stout. Medium bodied, but with a nice, full mouthfeel. Sweet, dark roasted and somewhat alcoholic nose with a subtle sourness in the background. The color is dark brown and nearly opaque. The head is light tan in color, and though not large on the pour, it maintains a thin layer for several minutes. Minimal lacing because it can’t stick to the glass, sliding back toward the beer. Pretty standard porter, basic flavors of milk and dark chocolate, creamy maybe a touch of vanilla, and some hops in the aftertaste, good beer. decaturstevo (1997), decatur, Tennessee, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 10, 2006 A good beer that smells and taste of the basic coffe and chocolate, but there is an aroma and taste that I can’t put my finger on (is it caramel?). This beer has to me a slight bittersweet initial taste with a nice bitter at the end. Just a little watery as it sits. I like the way this beer smells and starts I would have rated it higher if not for the watery end. OhioDad (2491), Hilliard, Ohio, USA

Aromas of milk chocolate, coffee, and a touch of cola. Flavors were lots of roasted malt, cola, chocolate, cherry, and just a touch of coffee with a somewhat dry finish. A fair amount of carbonation and medium bodied. mbeem (104), New Hope, Alabama, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Mar 6, 2006 Not a bad porter.. No Anchor by any means. Malty nose, some roasted notes and chocolate. Very thin head which dissapated quickly. Decent carbonation. Watery palate, easily drinkable. Mild hop presence. Rather unremarkable but drinkable. Cappadonna (104), Delray Beach, Florida, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 6, 2006 Nicely carbonated tan head. Inviting aroma of chocolate and malt. Full flavor with a bit of a sour finish. Very smooth. ChazyRPh (571), Chazy, New York, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 9/20 | Mar 5, 2006 bottle...fairly opaque with a medium off white fluffy head. Mild roasted malt aroma (kinda smells like puke). Some mild roasted malt flavors hardly any hops present to balance the puke out. Some burnt malt bitterness to finish. Nit a bad beer, just one that needs identity.
