Smells chocolatey with some coffee and hoppy notes. Tastes fruity and lightly hoppy with some nicely defined cherry elements and a tangy finish. Definitely one of the better porters out there. crazyvin (1254), New York, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 28, 2006 Pour is very dark brown, almost black with only some thin swirls of tan head. Aroma is sweet and chocolatey. Flavor is very interesting. A mix of roast, chocolate and something sweeter but lighter. I’m really not detecting much in the way of hops. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 25, 2006 The first sip reveals a collection of odd flavors, making me think my bottle might be off. But that must have been an anomoly of my palate, because as I got further into it I found more and more to like about it. Interesting initial flavor of tobacco and smoke. Caramel/toffee/molasses/brown sugar in the middle. Nicely hopped as well. The finish is mildly sweet and bitter. I might even have rated it higher if the palate had been a touch more substantial. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 23, 2006 Pretty typical good porter. Not smokey and is very smooth without being super thick. Pours a pretty black cherry color.
Bitter on the tongue. dhlesq (233), Thousand Oaks, California, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Feb 18, 2006 Aroma of milk chocolate, giving way to roast coffee. Appears a dark, almost opaque brown, with deep mahoganey colors on the edges, and with no head to speak of. Flavor is bright but lemony at the start, giving way to a full roasted flavor, but devolving quickly into an acidic sharpness. Palate is fizzy and detracts from the overall effect. Overall, this is not a great offering, and a bit less than the sum of its parts. Cornfield (4963), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 14, 2006 The light brown head collapsesrather quickly over the dark brown body, leaving intricate lacing in its wake. This releases the well blended aromas of rich dark malts, a bit of roasted barley, chocolate, a drop or two of weak coffee, and some light floral hopping. Quite a creamy mouthfeel. The flavors mirror the aroma, the chocolate becoming a bit more pronounced. Sweet, mildly bitter finish. Very nice. They should sell it here.

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 11, 2006 Thanks to TheBeerCellar2 for the bottle as a bonus on our recent trade. Opaque black-brown with ruby edges. Dense creamy light tan head that dissapates quickly and laces the glass rather nicely. Aroma is vinous with light coffee and chocolate. The flavor is quite roasty with less emphasis on hops then malt. Soft mouthfeel with a bit of a bitter bite. Not bad.
