Bottle. Pours dark amber, to almost black in the glass, with a foamy light tan head that dissipates. Sweet, malty aroma, with a bit of caramel. There are a ton of flavors: lightly roasted coffee/chocolate malt, raisin, maybe brown sugar, and a little hoppy bitterness to balance it out. They hold together surprisingly well, as I might expect from a higher-alcohol beer like an imperial stout.

12oz bottle acquired in trade. Bottle marked best before Month 11, week 5 (a few months past the date). Poured a dark, dark brown with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of chocolate, roasted malts, and light coffee. Tastes of chocolate and roasted malts. Not overly complex but quite drinkable. Thinner body.

Sweet Water Exodus Porter pours to a beautiful, deep chestnut brown, to murky black color, with a soapy white head that eventually fades, and a soft to moderate amount of carbonation. The nose on this beer is very nice with lots of good chocolate malt, and mild roasted coffee aromas. The palate is a bit thin for the style, but there is plenty of fresh flavors on the tongue. Chocolate malt, coffee, a touch of sweet malt, and just a hint of roast fill the mouth. Exodus Porter finishes with more flavors of chocolate and coffee up front, then ends with a a touch of roast, and a gentle hop bitterness that balances out the sweet malt character of this beer. This is a delicious brown porter, that makes an excellent desert beer, and one that would work very well with shell fish such as crab, or even a juicy rib eye steak. Its light body makes it very drinkable, and it can goes down smooth and silky, in warm Georgia weather. I find this beer to be just a bit too thin, I would enjoy it better if it was a bit beefier, and more flavorful, but it is still a tasty beer.

TheBeerCellar2-Matt bought this round <P> Aroma came across a little grassy to me which could have been hops, but thankfully roasty elelments, mildly coffee tinged, do come in shortly after. Reddish brown to dark brown in color this porter sports an initially bubbly head that compresses into pinky thin tan line. Mmmm very nice mildly roasty, but amply malty fore. That is how a porter should start right there. it gets a little "Nut Brown Aleish" there in the middle with some dry and oily peanut skin notes, but gets back on track and finishes with a mildly chocolate tinged, roasty smoothness. Nice one and typically underrated as most fine porters on this site are.

12 oz bottle, via TheBeerCellar2. Pours a dark brown with a fizzy 1cm light brown head. No sediment in bottle. Light roasty aroma with some grainy malts and vanilla. Light roasted malt flavor as well, with a slightly bitter and watery finish. Thin and fizzy mouthfeel. Overall they could do with a little more robustness, flavor, and body on this effort. Pretty weak all around.

Dark, golden-brown with aromas of smoke and roasted chocolate. Lots of chocolate malt flavors with an increasing coffee bitterness towards the end. Simultaneously roasty, sweet and bitter. Rich and robust.

Wow! What a great porter! Pleasing notes of bitter chocolate and light roast on the nose. Deep ruby in color with small, quickly disappearing head. Medium body with a nice velvety mouthfeel. Cocoa puffs and bold hops envelop the tongue. A terrific drinker. Thanks to JRob-21.

Smells of mild chocolate and roasty aromas. Appears murky and deep black but it is rather dim in the room right now. Smooth taste of coffee. Slightly bitter finish.
