12 oz bottle at Butters’ 4th Cellar Reduction. Pours a fizzy, lacing beige head with a brown, ruby body. Smells of ripe fruit, caramel, some coffee, manure, and toast. Tastes the same.

Dark, smokey and sweet. Light spiciness in the flavor, but not very much. All malt flavor with no bitterness. Some chocolate and syrup in the finish. A little too sweet for me. Not the most drinkable beer. Light carbonation.

Pours a dark copper color with a tan head. Malty aroma with molasses, cinnamon, chocolate, and dark fruits. Flavor is pretty malty with some molasses, cinnamon, chocolate up front. Finishes dry with the spice and dark fruit flavors.

Draft at Jock and Jill’s in Atlanta Pours a nice deep brown with a lingering tan head. Aroma of caramel and fruits. Some spices and honey. Has a medium to light heavy body. A bold flavor which is not too strong. The beer blends very well. Has a good mouthfeel and nice carbination. Gives nice taste all the way to the finish. This is a good beer.

12oz bottle from bhalter8. Pours a translucent dark brown to black with a one finger tan white head that settles slowly and laces the glass. Aroma is rich and malty with notes of dark ripe fruit, molasses, cinnamon, candy sugar, some hints of honey and plums. Flavor is sweet and malty with notes of dark ripe fruit, dark chocolate, candy sugar, some caramel and honey along with some barnyard funk. Generally medium body with a malty and funky finish. Interesting ale.

2007 Bottle number 585/11000. Very dark brown pour with a slight red hint and a finger of light tan foam. Aroma is light clove spices, lots of roasted malt. Taste is chocolate, roasted malt, light cinnamon apple spiciness. A spice porter in a lot of ways.

1L swingtop poured into a pint glass. Pours a deep mahogany with hints of ruby around the edges. An aggressive pour produces a two-finger tan head that recedes to a very thin cap leaving some spotty lacing. Aromas are pretty basic with lots of sweet caramel malts and dark, sweet fruits, apples and grapes maybe. I didn’t get much in the way of spices in the aroma. The taste is also extremely sweet, with sugary caramel malts and dark fruits. I thought I got some chocolate hints as well. The finish has a cola-like sweetness. The mouthfeel is pretty light for the style with good carbonation but lacking the body I was hoping for. This is a decent but not great beer from Sweetwater. Probably a bit one-dimensional for me, but I may sit on a bottle or two and see how it develops over time.

Poured black with a tan head. Spicey dark fruit aroma. Taste was sweet with notes of roast malt, dark fruit and spices. Maybe some licorice. Decent winter brew.
