Aroma of pie spices and pie crust but a mild smell. body is smooth and velvety and quaffable. Flavors of allspice, mincemeat. Clean, smooth, not too heavy and not at all chewy. Nice, and much nicer than the bottle so the re-rate replaces the bottle rate.
2006 bottle thanks to unclemattie! Pours muddy dark brown color. Nose of herb garden, blackberry bush. Didn’t do it for me. 7-2-5-3-10 JMFG (1514), Florida, USA

Think this one is a tad overrated, not nearly as good as the Donkey Punch. Disjointed, a bit watery and muted in the aroma and flavor. Felt a bit light on the palate as well. ABV is not noticeable, didn’t even know this one was almost 9%. hophead75 (1964), Boonton, New Jersey, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 18, 2008 trade extra from Emacgee. Dark brown, almost black in color with a tan head. A good deal of caramel, brown sugar, and spices in the nose, with light notesof tart cherry. The taste: medium or a touch above medium bodied with caramel sweetness- with spices, light tart cherry. Finishes with lingering molasses sweetness and light spices. Pretty nice for a spiced winter ale. kmweaver (2489), Sebastopol, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 12, 2008 12oz bottle, 2007 vintage, courtesy of kp. Thanks, Keith! Pours a murky, cola brown color; very light tan head with fine-bubbled lacing. Slightly tart aroma upfront, followed by brown sugar and cinnamon and pleasant levels of spicing; not necessarily bretty, but more of a tart citrus or spice presence; quite nice, not overly done. Medium-to-full, nicely balanced mouthfeel: follows the aroma closely, with a slightly tart character coming from the spicing and some lightly acidic citrus; warming cinnamon, light spice, plenty of cola, and biscuity malts; nicely composed malt core; balanced winter warmer with a reserved spice character and mild tartness; tasty. Some doughiness and citrus and biscuity malts on the finish.
