At the brewery. While not as obnoxious as American browns, this "English" brown (as the chalkboard said) could use a bit more malt and direction. Close, but not there yet.

12 oz bottle. Chestnut color pour with a light white head. Malty sweet aroma with minerals and a touch of nuttiness. A lightly sweet roasted malt and nutty flavor with an earthy hop presence. Pretty good. Wet medium body. This is a fine brew, just not that exciting.

Bottle. Large off-white fin bubbly head that mostly lasted. Good display of lacework. Clear sparkling body with an amber color. Nice malty sweet notes with some toasted malt and caramel as well. Over the palate hint of hops, light sweet fruit and hint of toffee. Light bodied with an average carbonation and very smooth texture. Light sweet flavor with a hint of bitterness. Light bitter and dry finish.

I just downed my first rather quickly, and I’m eager to drink the next 5 before the weather gets too bad. Tasty, but nothing to write home about. I think that bleeng’s description serves as mine.

pours a clear brown with mild head. nothing too complex or deep here behind this beer, mild sweet aroma with a dry front to finish and a watery mouthfeel, slight mocha background.

12 oz. bottle: This one pours a fairly clear, brown color. Mine had a pretty good size off-white head on it, but didn’t leave much in the way of lacing. The nose is malty with a little nuttiness in there also. The taste is also pretty decent. Malty with a bit of nuttiness . Very drinkable. Another good beer from these guys.

12 oz bottle thanks to unclemattie. Clear, filtered light brown pour with little head. Malty, light chocolate nose. Taste is lightly malted, a bit burnt tasting. Nothing going on after that. Mouth is thin and carbonated. Almost a mediocre brown ale.

Bottle via homebrew mystery swap. Ruby brown, off-white head. Nose is honey malt, light tart fruit, somewhat chalky, rich brown malt is there but hides in the back. Flavor is cocoa hops up front, some rich malt, more honey, a bit of fruit in the finish.
