Taste also malty and nutty with toffee flavor and a light palate, not too sweet, with understated hops in the background tempering the sweetness. I really enjoyed it. decaturstevo (1997), decatur, Tennessee, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jun 23, 2006 Dirt drown pour on a dark table but held up to the light it is a deep deep amber. An aroma of caramel and nuts. A nice flavor of caramel malt and nuts with a hint of bitter at the end. Just an odd flavor/aroma when you first pull the glass away. I had this beer at about 55* it had a smooth mouthfeel and light carbonation on the palate. Except for the little off tinge at the sip a damn fine beer. rebelbrewer (125), Lithonia, Georgia, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 13, 2006 12 ounce bottle poured into a pint glass. It’s brown alright and when held up to a sunlit window I could detect some reddish notes. The head was tan and thin (1/4 inch) and diminished quickly. No lacing was left on the glass. The aroma was very malty with hints of brown sugar and molasses. The taste is a bit when compared to the aroma. Oh, the taste has the malts, but I was expecting a really sickly sweet brew. I’m happy to report that was not the case. Turns out to be somewhat refreshing and surprisingly light on the palate. eaglefan538 (2365), Wilmington, Delaware, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 11, 2006 Poured a clear amber brown color with a nice initial head that sustained itself quite well. Lacing was decent, also. The aroma was of nuts and not much else. The flavor was dark malts, some caramel, and some nuts. Mouthfeel was light and thin for the style and this was lacking complexity. But, it was decent at the same time. Very drinkable. WarFockewulf (21), Douglasville, Georgia, USA

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 22, 2006 Pours to a bright copper color with a hint of red, medium white head, and minimal lacing. Okay aroma of malty nuts and honey. Flavor somewhat on the toffee side, and this beer ahd a little bit of a bitter finish. Not bad for a brown ale, which I’m not a real fan of. muzzlehatch (4427), Burlington, Vermont, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | May 2, 2006 12 oz bottle obtained via in-person trade from Wunderbier, cellar temperature in a Michelob glass. A massive, smooth light tan head recedes slowly but surely over a medium clear maple body.....faint dry oregano, pecans and almonds in the light but reasonably pleasant aroma.....body is nicely smooth but given some depth by fragrant and lightly bitter nutty-coily character, with notes of vanilla and caramel and faint dry grasses towards the rather bitter, lightly metallic finish....pleasant, easy-drinking, without a lot of true depth and little hop character, this is a nice sweet malty little number that you’ll forget until you see it again, and you’ll say, "ahh that was a good ’un" and order it anyway. bfeldmann (1042), Wilmington, Delaware, USA

Aroma was nutty slight caramel. Flavor was of caramel and malts, didn’t get the nutty flavor i was expecting. Mouthfeel was a little thin, not bad but not great. "
