Definitely one of the finer American Brown Ales. A deep copper colored, mild brown ale. SGB is accentuated by a slight nuttiness from its malt character. Designed to be a session beer it has a real smooth finish with a very subtle hop character.

Medal: Gold medal winner at the 2001 Great American Beer Festival – English Style Brown Ales.

Malt: 2 Row, Black, Victory, 30-37 Carastan, 70-80 Crystal, Chocolate

Hops: Columbus, Willamette

Not much of an aroma, a hint of caramel maybe. Has a nice amber brown color. Tastes sweet, malty, with a small hop finish. It is a good session beer.

Great copper color, thick head that dissipates at an average rate. The aroma is quite pleasing, deep and dark. Has a full palate, rich and opulent. Unfortunately, this beer finishes rather poorly, ending strongly bitter for too long. Still a very nice little brown ale though.

Brown. Light tan head. Roasty, malty, nutty- smells good. Same flavor, good session brew, cereal aftertaste. Medium/light body. Nice brown beer.

Bottle. Brown pour. Light sweet malty and nutty aroma, not big though. Some nutty flavors, but nothing real assertive. A little light and thin for me, but I can see it being a good session beer for the masses.

A solid brown ale that is a great alternative to its more expenssive counterparts.

A nice brown ale, kind of lacking a lot of flavor or punch. Manily a mild brown ale but a good american brown ale

Pours with an amber-brown body topped by a thin head with little lacing. It’s slightly sweet with a slight roastiness, a little nuttiness and a nice bitter hoppy finish. Slighlty dry, smooth and medium bodied.

on tap - bier garden asheville nc - nearly odorless - just a slight whiff of a milky sweetness. flavor is bland and non-descript - even for a brown ale. slightly sour finish. below average for a brown ale.
