Medal: Gold medal winner at the 2001 Great American Beer Festival – English Style Brown Ales.

Malt: 2 Row, Black, Victory, 30-37 Carastan, 70-80 Crystal, Chocolate

Hops: Columbus, Willamette

Deep amber in color with a thin white head. Admirable lacing. Aroma is nice and malty with a hint of nut. Flavor is sweet malt with a definite hop presence ... very English in character. A very nice beer.

Thanx to Beeryum, Poured clear brown with a nice tight head, did not last. Sweet aroma , malts perhaps.? The taste was smooth, I tasted honey like the said, and some nice caramel and a very little hop under tone. This is rather good. I reccomend this.

Mellow Mushroom - Atlanta, GA Draft Delicious nutty brown nicely hopped with well balanced caramel sweet aftertaste. Deep brown, clear, no head. Watery muthfeel. Newcastle with hops.

I had decided to pick up this beer because the Sweet Water Festive ale hasn’t arrived yet down in Savannah(damn you Atlanta, send it elsewhere). This beer however is great in taste. I definitely am fond of the nutty flavor to this beer.

Pours a deep brown color with a nice light tan head. Flavor is malty and has hints of chocolate. Not too bad at all.

On tap: Pours a dark copper color. Very dark, chocolate and roasted tasting beer. Starts and finishes very smoothly. A very well blended and great tasting beer. I was very impressed.

It was a nice sweet beer. It went down smooth and tasted great. Sometimes it helps if you have had a few beers to begin with. I would recommend this beer.

Thanks to Skaughty for this one! Deep copper color, all the way to the light end of the range for a Brown Ale. Quickly fading head gives way to a slightly sour light malt aroma. Sweet, very little bitterness, but a little thin in the mouthfeel. Drinkable, but this brewery can do better than this.
