Commercial Description:
It's nice to be able to finally brew some beer without restrictions on it. we came from Colorado where we could brew or try anything. We've been waiting 7 years to make a stout and we harnessed all that frustration into this batch of beer.

We didn't get caught up in the parameters of a specific style we just brewed a big fat hoppy beautiful beer. The timing of the law change couldn't have been better for us, because it has taken until this summer for us to get set up in our new brewery. We finally have some capacity to experiment with some new style. This could lead into a seasonal offering from us in the future. For now we're just glad we can satisfy the demands of the folks who have been on us since day 1 to make a stout.

Malt: 70/80 crystal malt, chocolate malt, black malt, roasted malt

Hops: Centennial, Willamette and cascade - on the dry hop!

12oz bottle from ucusty - thanks, David! Pours nice and dark, with an audible fizz and some fairly surprising carbonation for the style. Extremely strong nose of chocolate malts promises good things, but that doesn’t carry through so strongly during the drinking. Certainly some rich malty sweetness there, balanced by a strong hoppy presence (not Storm King hoppy, but still), but something about this just seems average to me.

Number 500! Sampled at Hellbilly’s Hellraiser II. Thanks HB! A great beer for the occasion! Dark thick black pour with a small dark head slowly rising to the top. Roasted coffee, caramel malt, chocolate, hops and dark fruit in the aroma. Flavor is similar, and surprisingly hoppy for a stout. Very nice indeed.

Bottle, courtesy CaptainCougar. Pours pitch black, some brownish highlights in there. Plenty of lacing on the glass, with a creamy off-white head. Hops hit the nose first, followed by caramel and sweet Belgian chocolate. Hoppy start to the drink, with a roasted malt finish. Some pine and citrus. Seems to have that whole imperial stout thing backwards. Surprisingly drinkable though, and light-bodied and fairly carbonated. Interesting entry to the style.

Bottle: Ohhh this looks absolutely delicious! Dark, dark brown with a big creamy brown head. Aroma is full of coffee, roast, bittersweet cocoa, and a hint of hops. Taste is smooth with roast, caramelized sugar, bittersweet/dark chocolate, and a little raisonlike fruitiness. Smooth and clean. Lingering roasty finish. Thanks kpresley77.
