Commercial Description:
It's nice to be able to finally brew some beer without restrictions on it. we came from Colorado where we could brew or try anything. We've been waiting 7 years to make a stout and we harnessed all that frustration into this batch of beer.

We didn't get caught up in the parameters of a specific style we just brewed a big fat hoppy beautiful beer. The timing of the law change couldn't have been better for us, because it has taken until this summer for us to get set up in our new brewery. We finally have some capacity to experiment with some new style. This could lead into a seasonal offering from us in the future. For now we're just glad we can satisfy the demands of the folks who have been on us since day 1 to make a stout.

Malt: 70/80 crystal malt, chocolate malt, black malt, roasted malt

Hops: Centennial, Willamette and cascade - on the dry hop!

Completely black, but looks a little thin on the pour. Dark tan and khaki head that sticks to the glass a bit. Deep dark fruitiness with a definite salty edge to it. Bacon fat maybe; smoked meat of some sort for sure. Slightly astringent, not quite smoked though. Gets better as it warms, some vanilla comes out, kinda oaky vanilla and the smoked meat edge fades. Earthy and meaty chocolatiness; Mexican mole. Deep fruitiness, but dry and not too sweet at all. Some vanilla in the flavor, again, coming out more as it sits awhile. Pretty light for a RIS, but not quite watery due to the soft and creamy carbonation. This beer was initially off-putting, but became more drinkable as it sat and warmed up.

Thanks kpressley77 for bottle. Poured black with a tan/brown head. Aroma is roasted malt and chocolate. Taste is very solid of chocolate/coffee, with a lengthy metallic finish. Good stout.

From unclemattie via trade. Thanks! The pour was dark with a solid, almost brown head that hung around for a bit before giving way and provided very little in terms of lacing. The aroma was lots of chocolate and malt, with some light cedar/pine noted as well. The flavor was mostly chocolate and roasted malt. Wish the hops, be they floral or pine had pulled through a bit stronger. The mouthfeel and finish were fine. Decent if unremarkable.

Bottle pours black with slight brown head. Aroma is slight coffee. Clean sweet coffee taste with nice sweet finish. Didn’t have a strong hops finish but with the strong sweet stout flavor I didn’t expect. Good stout.

Bottle thanks to TheBeerCellar. Pours a dark brown with decent head that falls quick. Nose of heavy roast anc chocolate. Flavor is rich with toasted malt and chocolate. Also a hint of dried fruit backs up the chocolate. Nice full body creamy texture.
