Some sweet bubblegummy notes in with the more typical roast and chocolate notes of aroma, with a mild Cascade presence. Pitch pour with a yummy rocky light brown head. Only medium-bodied, creamy with some grainy roast and a touch of acidic sourness (which does not agree too well), drying out nicely to a lightly bitter, mocha-inflected toasty finish. A little too much black malt, and too-transparent alcohol. Touch of casky wood and lesser lactose, with pine sol rushing in late. This is hard and dark, takes some effort to get into, but worth the effort; the mocha-coffee bg is of a high quality, with a nice espresso aftertaste, but this definitely suffers in comparison with the last two stouts I’ve had. bleeng (600), Spring near Beersel, Texas, USA

Nose is subdued with a slight chocolate, burnt-malt aroma. Flavors of chocolate, burnt malts, coffee. Alcohol is well hidden for such a strong beer. Nice rich mouth that lingers. Reminds me of an Older Viscosity. Well done-wish I had a few more of these in the cellar. PickettsCharge (68), USA

I liked the bottle experiment the best as it was more chocolate than coffee in their lateral tasting. The tap was coffee, but lso a sour aroma and more dry bitterness there. The head of all was nice and soapy and suggested fresh. The bottle was creamer and would get a 3.9 rank.
Serving type: on-tap

Has a mildly sweet taste with definite chocolate and coffee flavors. Smooth finish, interesting take on a classic style. Very enjoyable. TURDFERGUSON (1606), Carrboro, North Carolina, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 5, 2008 Shared by thebeercellar at the footsex gathering. Poured black with a small tan head. Aroma has lots of hops, with some notes of roasted malt and cocoa. Flavor is equally abundant with hops, and as other has mentioned lacks the complexity and thick luscious mouth feel of the top beers in this style. Thanks for sharing Matt! jsh12bama (344), Alabama, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 3, 2008 Nice black pour with thick tan head with good lacing. Roasted malt aroma with slight hop notes. Taste of roasted malt and mild notes of chocolate. Thin mouthfeel. Too thin for the style but expected from this brewery.
