Commercial Description:
It's nice to be able to finally brew some beer without restrictions on it. we came from Colorado where we could brew or try anything. We've been waiting 7 years to make a stout and we harnessed all that frustration into this batch of beer.

We didn't get caught up in the parameters of a specific style we just brewed a big fat hoppy beautiful beer. The timing of the law change couldn't have been better for us, because it has taken until this summer for us to get set up in our new brewery. We finally have some capacity to experiment with some new style. This could lead into a seasonal offering from us in the future. For now we're just glad we can satisfy the demands of the folks who have been on us since day 1 to make a stout.

Malt: 70/80 crystal malt, chocolate malt, black malt, roasted malt

Hops: Centennial, Willamette and cascade - on the dry hop!

12oz. bottle supplied by OhioDad, thanks Scott! Pours a small light brown head with fair retention and some thin stringy lace is evadent. Black bodied brew. Nose is lighlty citrusy, heavily roasty and malty. Body is medium, lightly oily on the palate with a smooth carbonation. Plenty of roastiness up front backed by semi sweet chocolate flavors, light fruityness and a hint of coffee grains. Nice hopping, more piney in the flavor dept. though. Finish is a touch sweet though the bittering hops work just right, lightly fruity, plummy. A solid Impy Stout. Thanks again Scott!

nice looking pour, but not much comes of it. Kinda flat. Smell is good, chocolate malt? Light bodied brew, but smooth to drink.

Thanks to bmartin08 for the bottle. Pours near black with just a thin wisp of a head. Aroma of liquorice, coffee with bitter, grassy and citrus hops. Liquorice taste works very well with the American hops. Either I’m getting used to big, hoppy impy’s, or this just fits my taste. Either way, it’s damn fine.

12 oz bottle. Dark brown with a thick, pocked, sepia head. Molasses and brown sugar up front, cola and tobacco behind. Taste echos the nose with licorice, French Roast and Juicy Fruit sweetness. Medium body, light carb. Bittersweet chocolate finish. Solid brew.

Rerate; I think this bottle was from the same batch as my old rating; just with some age on it. Bottle said best by June 07. Poured a thick black with only a thin layer of light brown head. Aroma of oats, chocolate dust, caramel and roasted malt. I again didn’t like how the hops meshed with the other flavors. Liked it a bit less than last time; 3.6 to 3.5. (Bottle; thanks to KieferUGA and kleyland for this one from Georgia. Pours black with a smallish brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, caramel, coffe, chocolate, and a hint of hops. Initially smooth, but ends a little watery. Another complaint is that floral hops are too pronounced and it doesn’t mesh with the other flavors that well. Some good roasted malt and chocolate flavors; hints of vanilla and coffee. All in all, probably rated about where it should be in my opinion.)

Nose-hoppy, smells like the floor of the GABF. Body-opaque with a thin ring of bubbles and thin film of bubbles. Taste-mildly thin, toffee, light stout flavors. Just a run of the mill stout. Tastes like a hopped up porter. No big whoop.

Bottle: Pours black with a khaki head. Aroma, full fruity notes, chocolate, roasted malts, coffee. Flavor, coffee and fruits up front, chocolate, and a dry roastiness. Very smooth, medium bodied, and earthy finish that is slightly bitter.

No head, over a thick, dark brownish-black body. The aroma is filled with vanilla, chocolate, creme-brulee, coffee and a hint of hops. The flavor is similar, except that it is much less sweet than I expected from the aroma. Lots of vanilla in the flavor, along with roasted wood. Good overall.
