Commercial Description:
It's nice to be able to finally brew some beer without restrictions on it. we came from Colorado where we could brew or try anything. We've been waiting 7 years to make a stout and we harnessed all that frustration into this batch of beer.

We didn't get caught up in the parameters of a specific style we just brewed a big fat hoppy beautiful beer. The timing of the law change couldn't have been better for us, because it has taken until this summer for us to get set up in our new brewery. We finally have some capacity to experiment with some new style. This could lead into a seasonal offering from us in the future. For now we're just glad we can satisfy the demands of the folks who have been on us since day 1 to make a stout.

Malt: 70/80 crystal malt, chocolate malt, black malt, roasted malt

Hops: Centennial, Willamette and cascade - on the dry hop!

Deep, dark pour, scant tan colored head. Very hoppy nose for an impy stout, sweet caramel under. Mouthfeel is a bit thin, slight carbonation. Hops come through in the flavor, finishes with coffee bitterness.

Thanks to jrob, aroma had a sharpness to it, slightly soapy malt aroma, upon warming ,it became a little more chocolately, taste was A+W root beer, anise, sweet malt, and a hint of alcohol, couldn’t really find any chocolate or hop ,a sprite, lively Imp Stout, would do well in warm Southern temperatures

So, the beer is called ’happy ending", the label said "stiffy" somewhere on it, and it has an "explosive finish?" Hahaha. Anyway, the pour was black with a light brown head. Nose was pretty generic with some hops and roast. Watery flavor with some chocolate and coffee. Finish was fairly hoppy, but also not significantly noticable. Too watery. Weak!

sample from bottle at DLD - Pours black with a very nice pine and citrus hop aroma. Interesting. I’m tasting roast malt, pine hops, and a bit of fruitiness. It’s medium bodied, which seems like for an Impy, and has light carbonation. The finish is moderately bitter. It’s certainly different and pretty good too.

Appearance: Pours a dark, pitch black body with a medium-sized tan head. Smell: Well, there’s some dark chocolate, cold coffee, and a little bit of soy if you can manage to sniff around the overwhelming aroma of pine. Taste: The fact that the overpowering pine flavor squashes any chance of savoring the malty flavors is both distressing and exasperating. Is this some kind of prank? The finish is full of a black malt burnt ashiness. Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Medium carbonation. Its actually bordering on watery, what gives?! Drinkability: Normally, I have no quarrel with the hops, and have often said, "Come on hop, come all!" but it just seems a bit inappropriate in an Imperial Stout. Who knows, maybe that’s how the kids like their stouts these days. If that is the case, how about a little "heads-up" next time?

Nice but on the light side of impies. Reportedly dry hopped but I got very little hops in the nose, instead it was a milk chocolatey roasty love fest. Very dark brown, and brown head. Flavor was roasty and chocolatey with a touch of coffee. Palate on the thin side, but it mad this very easy drinking and smooth.

Thanks Beercellar2 for this excellent trade extra. Shared with Skyview a few weeks ago. Dark tan head, a half inch of it on this opaque brown pour. Faint aroma of coffee and pine. Smooth finish with coffee and sweet fruit flavors.

Bottle, thanks to kp!, pours a nice dark black with an ample light brown head, minimal lacing. Minimal aroma of roasted malts, molasses and light chocolate. Sweeter and lighter taste with a roasty disposition, noticable hops, and a very clean and smooth finish. Medium and slick on the palate. This is certainly not your typical IS; glad I had the chance to try.
