Commercial Description:
It's nice to be able to finally brew some beer without restrictions on it. we came from Colorado where we could brew or try anything. We've been waiting 7 years to make a stout and we harnessed all that frustration into this batch of beer.

We didn't get caught up in the parameters of a specific style we just brewed a big fat hoppy beautiful beer. The timing of the law change couldn't have been better for us, because it has taken until this summer for us to get set up in our new brewery. We finally have some capacity to experiment with some new style. This could lead into a seasonal offering from us in the future. For now we're just glad we can satisfy the demands of the folks who have been on us since day 1 to make a stout.

Malt: 70/80 crystal malt, chocolate malt, black malt, roasted malt

Hops: Centennial, Willamette and cascade - on the dry hop!

2008 vintage - thanks to hank1980 for this huge swing-top; bottle 2914 of 3000; pours clear, dark cola with thin tan head; very roasty with some chocolate and coffee; more sweet than bitter; thin body, but drinks rich and smooth; very drinkable and sweet; mildly hoppy, fruity and dry finish; gets better and better; very nice

2008 vintage bottle 366/3000. Pitch black pour with a thick creamy pillow of milk chocolate head. Beautiful chocolate aromas, dark roasty malts. Bitter roasted malt and more chocolate on the tongue. Not especially hoppy but a fantastic stout nonetheless.

Bottle from bigmilly8, thanks! Black pour with a big bubbled brown head that doesnt last for very long except for a few large bubbles that form against the glass. Aroma is totally chocolate and a good roasty malt quality. I also gets hints of prunes and raisins. Flavor is bold and sweet up front. And the finish is interesting. Hoppy but not really bitter. The use of dry hopping in this beer is great. Kudos to Sweetwater. I do think this is the best from them yet.

Tasted 8/4/08. Pitch black hue with a clinging beige head. Aromas of cocoa and dark chocolate. Undertones of pepper and anise. Spicy nose. Very nice nose! Full bodied with a soft palate. Low effervescence. Rounded palate with flavors of coffee and dark chocolate. Spices and toffee. Great malt quality. Slightly sticky with a decent hop character. Cookie and cocoa malts. Rich and delicious.

Pours a relatively thick opague black body with a small tan head. A pretty decent aroma of slightly over-cooked brownies with a subtle citric tartness. The flavor pretty much mirrors the nose with a cocoa coated orange peel taste. A lighter, medium body for an impy with more and more orange peel taste the longer it breathes.

Bottle courtesy tpd975. Pours black with a one finger tan head that leaves good lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, and bitter chocolate. Taste is the same as the aroma with sweet caramel showing up in the finish. Medium full mouthfeel with a moderate amount of bitterness and smooth alcohol. Very good.
