Nose is nice west coast hoppy, citrusy, pine cone, sweet. Taste is the same, slightly sweet, not overly hoppy, nice smooth body. Reminds me of Deschutes Hop Henge Experimental IPA. Well done. drowland (1412), Tallahassee, Florida, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 16, 2009 12oz bottle into a pint glass. Pours like a penny with tons of light shining on it and a big white head that lasts for a bit. The aroma of fresh flowery hops jumps out while pouring before a big sniff even begins. Further exploration reveals rose petals, grapefruit peel, and some caramel. The flavor is nicely balanced with big grapefruit and citrus hops balanced by a nice backing of sweet malts. rlaw (50), USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Aug 12, 2009 Bottle. I hate this sort of marketing: this is "the beer you’ve been training for!" Since when is beer drinking the Olympics? What makes this annoying slogan even more cartoonish is the fact that this is a very one-dimensional, middle-of-the-road IPA. There’s not enough malt backbone or hops complexity (or even bitterness!), just an overpowering grapefruit aroma and taste. If I wanted grapefruit soda, I’d drink a Fresca. I suppose it was "refreshing," but that’s not what I was expecting from this beer. Don’t believe the hype, folks. To be fair, the beer was a few months past the "drink by" date. Does grapefruit get stronger with age? USCBeerMan (109), Columbia, South Carolina, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 9, 2009 Pours copper, to golden orange with small off white head and noticable lacing. solid pine and grapefruit aroma. overall a very impressive IPA. Braudog (3767), Dayton, Ohio, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Aug 6, 2009 Draft at Sweetwater’s ATL airport bar. Nice golden orange color with a moderately stiff head. Although there isn’t much of an aroma to let on, this ends up delivering quite a wallop of citric goodness. Big and fruity, this is a welcome respite after a long week on the road. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 2, 2009 good hops, but they are a bit harsh. there isn’t a whole lot of complexity, just bitter and dry hopped flavor. this just didn’t stand out, i liked the hops, but it was nothing special. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 21, 2009 Sold pour on tap at home from a 1/6th barrel. the head is tall and strong: probably a product of the freshness on the keg.
the aroma is hoppy and slightly sweet, though not overpowering. balanced if I might add. the color is a deep, cloudy, amber hue.
the flavor is immeadiately hoppy with a balancing malt backbone. some grapefruit, but more on the bitter side. the beer is smooth and balanced. plenty of mouth feel here.
overall, this beer is well worth picking up on draught the next time you get.
