Commercial Description:
This mammoth IPA is defined by generous quantities of premium hops and balanced with a premium selection of English malt. Traditionally unfiltered IPA’s lead to the slight haze appearance. An extensive dry-hopping process contributes to its very intense floral hop aroma. The IPA is unfiltered and as always, unpasteurized to leave all the natural flavors intact. If you’re at the brewery you’ll be able to guess what style of beer every brewer has in his hand. THE BEER YOU'VE BEEN TRAINING FOR!

Malt: 2 Row, Pale Malt, Munich, 70-80 Crystal, Wheat

Hops: Columbus, Golding

Dry Hop: Columbus, Golding

Hadn’t realized that I hadn’t rated this one yet. Also, did not realize how highly rated it was among IPAs. Pleasant grapefruit, melon sweetness/bitterness. Deep gold color. The hops are nice, and are complimented by sticky, slightly alcoholic palate. Reminds me why I like IPAs so much. Yum!

Poured a gold color with a good sized white head. A ton of hops in the aroma. Same with the taste. Big on hops makes me happy. Courtesy of Matt.

Pours copper with small offwhite head. Strong piney hops on the nose. Flavor is very very hoppy. An almost grapefruit juice like aftertaste. Alright but not exactly my cup of tea.

12oz. Bottle My first beer from Sweetwater. Finally getting around to it. Sweetwater’s IPA poured a crystal clear golden with an orange tinge into my pint glass. Very few tiny carbonation bubbles rise through the body. Poured with a 1+ finger creamy white head that fades to a half finger but then stays put. Leaves spotted sticky lacing. This is an attractive beer. The smell is what I encounter with a lot ofthe better IPAs. Solid aromas of sweetened grapefruit and orange rind. There’s even a touch of pine but it comes in very faintly. Surprisingly there’s a strong caramel maltiness and lightly toasted white bread. I like the smell of this one quite a bit. The gulp starts off with the caramel bakbone which is quickly pushed back by sweet lemon hoppiness up front. The caramel stays in the background throughout but sweetened grapefruit takes the place of the lemon mid-palate. on the finish the grapefruit turns tart with a nice moderate lingering bitterness. Nicely balanced IPA with a nice hop kick on the finish. Enjoyable. The body is on the lighter side of medium. Crisp and refreshing. Coats the mouth nicely to let the hops linger. Gives the tongue a jumpstart with the hoppy bitterness. Very nice. This beer is very easy to drink. It’s crisp and refreshing with a nice hop kick to it. The abv. is right to enjoy a few in a sitting. Thanks for the sample Mike. I’m glad I have the chance to try Sweetwater’s IPA. To tell you the truth I was expecting a middle of the road IPA but this one really surprised. Many familiar IPA flavors but very polished and done just right. 2/4/07

Strong resiny hop aroma. Floral? Could be. Has that hint of feline expression - in a good way. Dark golden color with a white head. Starts with clean refreshing resiny piny hop. Medium+ mouthfeel. Malt? Anyway, after the first piny hints, it comes out floral. The finish is not quite dry, not all that bitter. The hop seems to flucate between pine and floral. It is really, really, good. The cat related smell is still there, but it’s nothing compared to a real cat situation. Malt?

12 ounce bottle from pintocb. Hazed yellow-orange with a great white head. Knockout aroma. Loads of pungant pine and grapefruit. Man I do love Columbus hops. The English malts come right through. Lots of toasted notes. Hop flavor seems to be more on the earthy herbal side. Bitterness seems subdued. Kind of thin on the palate. All in all, this is a really good beer. Best of the bunch so far Larry. Thanks!
