This IPA pours a faintly hazt, dark copper with an adequate off-white head. The aroma from the dry-hopping makes this a very aromatic beer. It smells of fresh flowers. The flavor is nicely bitter with floral and spicy hops dominating. The toasted, caramel malt backbone is subdued by the hops, but still present. Medium-bodied and probably too carbonated. Bitterness lingers. A good ale, but not quite as complex and enjoyable as Sweetwater’s 420. Vac (2394), San Diego, California, USA

It’s sweet, malty and fruity with an underlying grassy hop note and a touch of artificial grape flavor. Medium bodied, smooth and slightly dry. zug4abby (287), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Sep 23, 2005 Pours a cloudy orange color with a minimal head and very litlte lacing. The aroma includes oranges, hops and some sort of berry (maybe raspberry?) Tastes kind of like a fake grape soda. I didn’t particularly enjoy this beer and the combination of weird berry and hop flavors TheBeerOrg (1591), Kentucky, USA

Light aroma of citrus hops, with some acidic grapefruit. Taste is spicy and almost all hops. Chewy, almost malty, but not hoppy to the extent of being overwhelming. I’m not much of a hop-head, but it’s balanced enough to merit approval . Lots of hops in the finish, surprisingly little in the aroma. Quaffable, but not complex. If this is the beer I’ve been training for, I’m already a master. Fairly mild for an IPA. Fantomas23 (463), Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 21, 2005 Hazy and amber. Head settles down nicely to just cover the beer and lace around the glass. Bigger grapefruit flavor than what I was expecting (pleasantly enough). Flavor is not overpowering; it lingers but not cloyingly. Some balancing sweetness from the malts but not much. Very much an IPA. I’d rate this above the 420, which is also enjoyable. Much better than the more heralded 420. IMtheOptimator (1161), Bethel, Connecticut, USA

Poured amber with a large semi-creamy off-white head. Nice aroma of floral hops and a touch of candy. Taste is somewhat thin, predominantly hop driven, with a somewhat metallic character. Body feels thin and overcarbonated. Not bad... started out better than it finished. FoolishMortal (966), San Diego, California, USA

Malty backbone with a slight toasty character, with complementing citrusy and grassy hop flavors. Residual sweetness, slight toastiness, and a twinge of diacetyl in the finish. Mouthfeel is medium and slightly dry.
