jimbowood (947), Athens, Georgia, USA Jul 25, 2009 Draft at trappeze. Maybe the best sw brew I’ve tried. Very hoppy. Citrusy hop nose and finish. Overall very good. CaptainCougar (5379), Rockville, Maryland, USA Jun 16, 2009 On cask 1/26/08 at the Atlanta Cask Ale tasting: Pours a transparent copper amber with an airy off-white head. Aroma of fresh grapefruity hops with some subtle oak and sweet caramel malt. Body starts rich and caramely sweet with some good fresh oaky balance and light fruity esters with nice grapefruity flavoring hops and a slightly drier bittersweet finish. A smooth and fairly complex oaked barleywine. Donkey Punch meticulously aged in Jack Daniels barrels. Pours dark red/brown with absolutely no head. Smells of malts and bourbon. No carbonation – but who cares when it tastes so good? Tastes of a bitter/sweet balance. The barrel aging brings all of Donkey Punch’s normally well hidden ABV, to the front of the class.

shp555 (1678), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Feb 15, 2008 Pours a deep amber color with a thing tan head. Aroma is some caramel and tons of grapefruit hops. Flavor is malty, some oak, and a nice bitter grapefruit hop finish. SpringsLicker (2041), Tennessee, USA Feb 11, 2008 Atlanta Cask Ale ’08.

Complex aroma malty caramel, dark fruits.
The flavor follows the aroma with an oak dryness.
Nice one.
jsh12bama (335), Alabama, USA Feb 9, 2008 Cask @ ATL Cask Ale Fest ’08. Nice hoppy aroma. Big hop taste. More like a double IPA than a barleywine. Good beer. Hank1980 (734), Athens, Georgia, USA Jan 27, 2008 Tasted at Atlanta Cask Ale Tasting. Aroma of hops and fruit. Appearance is ruby and dark. Taste is hoppy, fruity, and smooth from the oak. Oak tames the hops and makes this one very enjoyable. Wish I’d had a glass of the Donkey Punch! to compare this to. Jack Ass vs Donkey Punch, I’m assuming these are similar beasts. Very nice beer here.
