Commercial Description:
Brewed in a single batch topping off at 25 degrees Plato, and generously dry-hopped. After racking into an oak barrel and aging for five months, it was transferred to the cask and introduced to a copious amount of fresh Simcoe flowers. Brewed by Nick Nock of Sweetwater Brewing.

Draft at trappeze. Maybe the best sw brew I’ve tried. Very hoppy. Citrusy hop nose and finish. Overall very good.

On cask 1/26/08 at the Atlanta Cask Ale tasting: Pours a transparent copper amber with an airy off-white head. Aroma of fresh grapefruity hops with some subtle oak and sweet caramel malt. Body starts rich and caramely sweet with some good fresh oaky balance and light fruity esters with nice grapefruity flavoring hops and a slightly drier bittersweet finish. A smooth and fairly complex oaked barleywine.

Served at “Free” Beer Party – 2008 at Taco Mac Lindbergh in celebration of the 75 anniversary of the end of prohibition.<P> Donkey Punch meticulously aged in Jack Daniels barrels. Pours dark red/brown with absolutely no head. Smells of malts and bourbon. No carbonation – but who cares when it tastes so good? Tastes of a bitter/sweet balance. The barrel aging brings all of Donkey Punch’s normally well hidden ABV, to the front of the class.

Pours a deep amber color with a thing tan head. Aroma is some caramel and tons of grapefruit hops. Flavor is malty, some oak, and a nice bitter grapefruit hop finish.

Atlanta Cask Ale ’08. Pours fairly clear dark amber with a small, fleeting off-white head. Complex aroma malty caramel, dark fruits. The flavor follows the aroma with an oak dryness. Nice one.

Cask @ ATL Cask Ale Fest ’08. Nice hoppy aroma. Big hop taste. More like a double IPA than a barleywine. Good beer.

Tasted at Atlanta Cask Ale Tasting. Aroma of hops and fruit. Appearance is ruby and dark. Taste is hoppy, fruity, and smooth from the oak. Oak tames the hops and makes this one very enjoyable. Wish I’d had a glass of the Donkey Punch! to compare this to. Jack Ass vs Donkey Punch, I’m assuming these are similar beasts. Very nice beer here.
