Flavor’s quite hoppy as well, extremely fresh tasting with a bit of a caramel base. Finishes crisp and clean. A little more of an IPA in my opinion, but regardless of the style, it’s good stuff. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 19, 2009 On tap at BW3 Tallahassee. Dark amber pour with a nice off white head. Has a nice earthy hop aroma, but a little faint. Outstanding flavor, nice underlying bitterness with just enough sweetness. I think I have a new beer of choice at my favorite bar. osu97gp (178), Atlanta, Georgia, USA

Pleasant tacky, citrusy appeal, with a big malt backbone. Chewy even. Excellent. (#3659, 8/8/2009) bubbleflubber (898), Collinsville, Virginia, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 6, 2009 On draught at the High Country Beer Fest, it pours deep amber, with a nice head leaving generous lace. Biscuity notes, with hints of copper, some light malt backing and a nice bitter floral finish. The palate is lively, with good carbonation. Nice, full-bodied mouthfeel with a smooth texture. Extremely well-balanced offering. Very nice ESA, and best categorized as such. There are hints here of an ESB, but the complexities push it to the ESA category appropriately. Nice job! merlin48 (520), New Tazewell, Tennessee, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 30, 2009 Twelve ounce bottle pours a hazy amber body with a two finger almond head. Abundant lacing is left on the glass. Aroma is like an IPA, with sharp citrusy grapefruit and pine notes. Taste follows suit, with a prominent citrusy hop bitterness edged by pine notes. No malt presence. This would be a decent IPA but falls short of being an ESB. AR (437), Georgia, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 29, 2009 This may be my favorite Sweetwater. For a non-English ESB, it’s really pretty good. The hops flavor is a bit more pervasive than the malt, but the malt makes a great base layer. The taste is somewhat citric with a caramel undertone.
