| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 5, 2009 Slightly hazy amber pour with a lasting, inch-high white head.
Aroma is exceptionally sweet - both in fruity hops and malt. Lots of caramel, light brown sugar, passion fruit, confectionery, pear, etc, etc. Definitely a sweet-tooths beer. Or a sweet-nose’s beer, rather.
Strong malt sweetness carries through in the taste, but with less fruit. Mild bitterness partially balances the beer. Still, way over the top in the malt department!
Body is a bit watery, and I would have like more carbonation to dry things out.

| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jul 1, 2009 Amber with white head - from bottle. Malty nose with American hop presence. Taste is sweet with tones of caramel and a sticky body. Not much hop presence on the palate, which is disappointing. Needs improvement to match it with other pale ales out there, but it may appeal to those who appreciate malty pale ales. Chrism86 (279), Melbourne, Australia
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 9, 2009 Pours amber body with a nice off white head. Nose is very expressive, US pine and citrus hops with a decent amount of caramel malt. Palate is a little more tame as far as the hops go, which is a bit of a shame. Citrus and caramel malt combine well but lacks significant hop bitterness on the finish. It just falls away a bit. I suspect this would be great fresh or on tap! bluevegie (2212), Perth, Australia
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 11, 2009 American hop nose, pleasant and promising, balanced well with the malt and hops. Colour is light tawny amber with short head, good body, tastes unfiltered and better than the Fat Yak thats popping up everywhere. Dredd (491), Ormond, Australia
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 12, 2008 Pours cleanly with amber body, thin white head and good carbonation. Aroma is floral hop notes with some sweet malt notes coming through. Flavour is a great, sweet malt on the front palate moves in to some slight stonefruit and a pleasantly lasting bitter finish.
I am very impressed with both of the beers Sweetwater have released. Better to get two spot on that miss the mark on 4-5 which is what a lot of brewers tend to do. Certainly a brewery to keep an eye on.
