epf33 (151), Fairfax, Virginia, USA Mar 23, 2008 an amazing stout, roasty flavor, black color, brownish white head, aroma similar to that of guinness scraff (1662), Baltimore, Maryland, USA Mar 19, 2008 Dark brownish black, thin creamy tan head. Soft roasty chocolate nose with hints of burnt toast and coffee. Flavor is more of the same with light chocolate and coffee tones rounding to a faint hop bitterness. Light bodied and tad thin, soft carbonation, dry, bittersweet finish. Decent... radagast83 (1046), Springfield, Virginia, USA Mar 6, 2008 Draft at Merrifield Va location. Pours an extremely dark color - almost black. Extremely dark brown colored head. Aroma is roasty. Flavor is roasty, with touches of chocolate. It’s pretty smooth - and compliments a dinner quite well. 19641948 (492), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA Aug 29, 2007 Growler from the Merrifield, VA location. Pours a black body with a scant head of brown. Intense roasty aromas, almost too much so. A biting coarse coffee note also. For all the bluster of the aromas, the flavors were weak and thin. Roastiness doesn’t hold up the thin malt body. Watery mouthfeel. Bitter finish and a dry aftertaste. jrob_21 (848), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Aug 13, 2007 Draft sample at falls church. I was pleasantly surprised by the depth and complexity of this one. Nice bittersweet chocolate flavors. Roasted coffee aromas. Slight sweet smooth full bodied finish.
