Commercial Description:
A robust strong ale brewed along the style of the turn-of-the-century ales with mainly pale malt and a minor amount of roasted malt and a great amount (1.5 lb/barrel!!!) of Clusters, Cascades, and Fuggles hops. This ale is dry hopped with Onondaga County grown Brewers Gold hops - harvested from some of the last remaining plants of the early 1940's commercial planting for p. Ballentine & Sons brewery in Newark NJ. This smooth, elegantly flavored ale is unfined, unfiltered and naturally aged for 1 1/2 months.

A reddish amber ale with a thick light moka head. A light caramel malt in aroma with light floral hops. In mouth, a sweetish malt with loads of orange pulp, good hopping, treacle, surprisingly good. On tap at brewpub, Oct. 23 2009.

An orange gold pour with a creamy white head and lace. Light hops and medium malt on the nose. Tastes alot like a Marzen/Oktoberfest but a decent bitter. A tad thin and foamy. With some faults was still a drinkable beer.

Draft at the brew pub. Pours a dark brown, small off white head. Aroma was sweet hops. Flavor was almost dead on like a Sam Adams, hoppy, but not over the top. A very solid brew, well done !!!

Best of the bunch this night. Hoppy yet sweet aroma. Looks very nice in the glass. Rather hoppy but balanced by a sweet malt backbone. Can taste the dry hopping, but I’m relieved they didn’t get too excited in the dry-hopping chair. Decent, and probably the one I’d order again, if I ever return.

Sample at the brewpub. Light maple syrup color, lasting foamy ring...pleasant apricot nose with some citrusy hops...smooth body with a tangy bite to begin, softens later but lingering piney hops give it a nice kick...decent body could be fuller, but far and away the best this brewpub has to offer.

Fruity aroma with some hops in there. Very dark color--cloudy mahogany with off white head. Too dark for a pale ale. Very malty tasting beer. Roasted malts all over the place with some mild hops to finish. Seems closer to a doppelbock to me. **I was pretty wasted when I had this.

Strongly fruity -- pineapple -- with caramel and good hopping. Cinnamon red-brown. Somewhat darker than the usual brewpub PA. Hoppy, without being overdone. Mild, spicy aroma. Acid and long creeping hop finish. Good viscosity. A bit better than the average brewpub PA, and the best beer here, but that's not saying much.
